If you’ve been following along on my Instastories over the last 24 hours, you’ve been slowly watching me receive an education in coffee mugs that is invaluable. I received what I now know is a “camp” or “campfire” mug in a gift basket over the holidays, and absolutely fell in love with it. However, outside the months of November and December, I can't bear to have holiday items in my presence. Thus, I asked for help in identifying the mug (it had no brand or logo on it) so I could order a non-holiday version of the same mug for use over the next 10 months. You quickly helped me identify that it was called a "camp," "campfire," or "tinware" style mug, but the tricky part was finding one that's dishwasher/microwave safe (i.e. not the actual metal camping versions) and just the right oversized (15oz) size. Thankfully after innumerable DMs and many a google search, I indeed uncovered some promising versions of the same mug with... a different outfit. I have decided on ordering these mugs from Canvas home (which look amazing but unfortunately are only sold in a set of four) and these beauties (which are slightly smaller than I'd prefer, so we'll see!) from Amazon. Now I am a collector.
Let me preface this glowing (lol) review of face wipes by saying that I use these only when a sink and my favorite cleansers are unavailable to me. When you’re home, I highly suggest a full face cleansing (there is no magical wipe on the planet that can substitute for that!), but when you’re in a pinch, or in the air, or leaving the gym, these wipes from Ursa Major are, you know... major. They’re cruelty-free, biodegradable, and extremely well-rated on Amazon. Toss a few of the packets in your favorite bags. You will never be sad to see them there and your face will be cleaned, soothed, exfoliated and hydrated in one swipe.
Madewell’s Transport Tote has been a cult-favorite for years, but if you’ve always felt it was a little lacking in the style department, it now comes in a magnificent drawstring format and it is chic, people. As always, the tote is incredibly versatile and roomy, and you can also monogram it! This would make such a good birthday, Valentine’s, or “you just got a promotion—yay” gift for literally any woman in your life. Also, if you're wondering what I suggest putting in your bag on your commute to the office, read up in this post.
Around here, we do what Colette says, and this girl loves baths. We’re in the bathroom a ton while she luxuriates I mean bathes, and she always demands the finest in classical and Disney musical stylings. Thus, this portable waterproof bluetooth speaker now hangs proudly on my shower door and works incredibly well. I also just love the size and that you can easily clip it anywhere. I have a feeling this will also be joining us poolside for many years to come.
Umm... are you guys seeing these? Ulta is having a major skincare sale event, with different products marked down 50% each day. Today’s deals are SO good, it’s actually kind of insane to get 50% off these beloved Mario Badescu products, and I also have my eye (neck?) on this cream. But be VERY sure that my calendar is marked (and circled, and highlighted, and there are stickers) for Thursday January 23rd when the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm will be 50% off!
Last week I published part two of my goal setting focus for the month of January! It's one of my favorites and details exactly my process for setting and actually ACHIEVING goals. There's so much more to the process than just thinking, "I want to make more money this year" or "I hope I get promoted." By following these steps and the corresponding worksheets, you can actually make things happen. I'll be sharing lots more career content in 2020, but this is one to really catch up on before we go further. Goal setting sets the stage for the entire professional year ahead!
On a whim, I bought a few of these flannels for Rich. I was skeptical because the price tag is fairly low (just $30), but they fit him well and look much more expensive than they actually are. They’re perfect for casual winter days and it’s actually best if you just go ahead and steal them from your man and wear them belted over leggings. Just FYI.
Colette typically sleeps in fleece onesies, so we’ve ordered pretty much every style in existence at this point. Carter’s makes a great one, but I recently discovered these from Amazon too, and love them just as much. I have tried the Hudson Bay fleece onesies, but the quality of the fabric was really poor and several even had broken zippers. Who knew one had to be so discerning when it came to fleece baby pajamas?
Norma Kamali is always on my radar. The brand creates genius takes on classic wardrobe staples, often making them even more comfortable and functional than I’d previously thought possible. This long sleeve top is the newest addition to my ever-growing Norma Kamali collection. When I first got it, I didn’t think the raw edges would be right for me. But plot twist, the edges just contribute to the top’s brilliance. They make the top so flattering and comfortable and the gently drape of the shirt is especially flattering if you’re postpartum. FYI, I ordered one size up!
This is going to sound bold, but if my home caught on fire and I could only save one blazer, my new one from Smythe would be it. It is, simply put, magnificent. It’s certainly an investment piece, but it is absolutely worth it in my opinion and photos really don't do it justice. It’s a blazer you have to experience for yourself, in person. The body is made of a classic non-stretch suiting fabric, and the cut is a classic longline shape with perfectly placed darts and buttons. But then, the sleeves are actually a stretch fabric, which is genius because I love scrunching up the sleeves of my blazers (looks more chic), and the stretch also makes it so much more comfortable than you ever knew a blazer could be. With more comfortable movement in the arms, you no longer feel like a weird, stiff robot. Highly recommend you adding this beauty to the "wear-forever investment pieces" section of your closet.
I just got this wrap sweater by Vince, and apart from being absolutely stunning and flattering, it’s also really convenient for anyone who might be breastfeeding. The silhouette is super flattering and the wrap front is just the softness your wardrobe craves in these brutal winter months. Also, it’s made of cashmere, so... yes. Another wear-forever classic staple.
Ummmm I need to talk about cashews. My aunt made these rosemary cashews by Ina Garten over the holidays and I literally could not control myself. These are so good to have for snacking or to set out with cocktails when you have company. I’d have never thought to combine rosemary with a little cayenne pepper but WOW. Also, the recipe is so easy, it’s literally four steps and one of them is turning on your oven. MAKE THESE NOW.
