Last week I published part two of my goal setting focus for the month of January! It’s one of my favorites and details exactly my process for setting and actually ACHIEVING goals. There’s so much more to the process than just thinking, “I want to make more money this year” or “I hope I get promoted.” By following these steps and the corresponding worksheets, you can actually make things happen. I’ll be sharing lots more career content in 2020, but this is one to really catch up on before we go further. Goal setting sets the stage for the entire professional year ahead!
Career Goal Setting
Setting goals? Woof. Setting career goals? Double woof. It can all seem so daunting, right? For me, the hardest parts are (a) where to start when it comes to thinking about your career and where you want to go, and (b) how to establish a realistic roadmap to actually achieving the professional goals you set. Last week, I broke down exactly how I approach the process of setting career goals which starts with reflecting on the past year and brainstorming what I really want in my professional life. This is a crucial part of the goal-setting process because you can’t decide where you want to go if you don’t first reflect on where you’ve been. If you haven’t already, I strongly recommend you give it a read here because it will give you a great baseline for the next step I’m discussing today: actually setting goals and achieving them.
