All the Light We Cannot See

Everyone (including me) was obsessed with the book “All the Light We Cannot See” by Anthony Doerr, which spent over 200 weeks on The New York Times Best Seller list. The historical fiction came out in 2014, and the four episode All The Light We Cannot See miniseries adaptation came out this week — I’m so excited to start it tonight!

    Felicity on Hulu

Before Lost and all the Star Wars and the Missions Impossible, J.J. Abrams co-created a little television show called Felicity. Whether you were a diehard fan in the nineties or are just coming to the show for the first time, Felicity is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and it is peak comfort TV. I’m a first-time watcher and I’m obsessed. Stream all four seasons on Hulu and let me know whether you’re #TeamBen or #TeamNoel.

    Something From Tiffany’s

If you’ve already done your annual re-watch of The Holiday and Love Actually and are craving a new holiday rom com, I loved Something From Tiffany’s. It a new film produced by Reese Witherspoon, starring Zoey Deutch and Shay Mitchell and is out now on Amazon Prime. This is exactly the easy, heart-warming kind of movie to throw on while you’re wrapping gifts, tackling the laundry or burning I mean baking holiday cookies.

    The Empress On Netflix

If you miss Downton Abbey and are counting down the days until the next season of The Crown drops, The Empress is a must-watch. The six-part Netflix series follows the true story of Empress Elisabeth of Austria. It’s romantic and dramatic and will fill the void until we get another season of The Great.

    Mrs. Harris Goes To Paris

GO SEE Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris! This charming, heartwarming movie is based on the novel (by Paul Gallico) of the same name and is in theaters now. It’s the story of a widowed cleaning lady in postwar 1950s London who goes on an adventure to Paris to purchase a couture Dior dress. It has a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 100% rating in my heart because it is the kind of feel-good movie Hollywood doesn’t seem to want to make anymore which makes it all the more refreshing. Please go see this so they start making more…

    The Adam Project

The Adam Project, a new release from Netflix, was a bit of a departure for me since I typically don’t like sci-fi movies. However, this movie, starring Ryan Reynolds, Jennifer Garner, Mark Ruffalo and Zoe Saldana is the ideal light, heartwarming, FUN distraction from…*gestures generally at life.* Press play, as soon as possible, and be prepared to laugh and cry.

    Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Is Back

After two excruciating years, SHE’S BACK! I am so, so excited to see television’s favorite gal return to the screen (and don’t get me started on the fashion).  The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is trying a different approach this time with its release, a sort of hybrid strategy where two episodes are released every Friday. Something similar was done with the show Hacks on HBO, and it was a well-received format that gives you more than one episode to enjoy, but not so much that you binge it all in one weekend.

    Hacks on HBO

If you haven’t started watching the wit-laden show Hacks on HBO, please start. It’s about a seasoned comedian working with an up-and-coming joke writer, and neither of them are exactly happy about the situation. Hijinks and hilarity ensue. The episodes are only 30-minutes long, so it’s really easy to catch up. It stars Jean Smart and I’m loving everything she’s been doing lately, including Mare Of Eastown!

    Nadiya Bakes

If you’re a fan of the Great British Bake Off (who among us hasn’t rewatched a season even though it’s a competition and we already know the winner), you will absolutely love everything Nadiya Hussain has going on over at Netflix, including Nadiya Bakes and Nadiya’s Time To Eat. She is such a lovely person and her recipe ideas are often quick and super realistic for home cooks. I personally appreciate that she isn’t afraid to suggest shortcuts for busy professionals and parents. One recipe even uses a can of SpaghettiOs in a casserole and I gave her an 8-months…

    Happy International Women’s Day!

Fun fact, it’s actually Women’s History Month all month long, too! If you’re looking for a meaningful way to spend the day (or month), I love the idea of donating to women’s organizations you love. We’ll be donating to Dress For Success, one of our favorites. Another cool option: checking out these digital exhibits curated by the National Women’s History Museum which explore various groups of trailblazing women.
