If you love classic style and perhaps have a child or two, you need to look into Hazel and the Hound, a new children’s boutique that has, quite simply, the most adorable collection I have ever seen. I’m telling you, the dresses! The most recent additions to Colette’s closet include this, this, this and THIS. Also, these hair bows for little girls are genius. Can’t handle the cuteness.
Hands down, my favorite way to discover new favorite things is by getting presents. Not gonna lie. I was recently given this personalized robe from Pottery Barn, and as an indicator of how fabulous it is, I’ve since given it as a gift myself. Twice. Robes with waffle textures are ideal for summertime, because they’re cozy but not hot, as if by magic. The monogramming adds a very sweet, personal touch, too.
We’ve been at this WFH routine for months now, and it’s okay if you haven’t quite mastered it yet. I love this recent Forbes article that takes you through a few really smart and applicable-to-everyone steps that help start your morning off in the very best way possible. Think of these steps as setting you up for a productive day ahead with less stress, more focus, and hopefully a relaxed sense of calm.
I prefer it when my DIY projects end in treats, thank you. This frozen yogurt and ice cream maker by Cuisinart has over seven thousand reviews—people are happy with this purchase. I love the idea of customizing frozen goodies to my personal tastes or just to what happens to be in season. Do you realize you’re 20 minutes away from homemade ice cream? I mean, do you?
If you lose your glasses and sunglasses approximately 17 times per day, you might want to consider a neat little solution like this one for keeping them on you at all times. However, if I’m being honest, I actually prefer the grandma-adjacent chains that we’ve seen so much of lately, and I recently ordered this one. More enticing options can be found here, so we have no excuse when our glasses fall betwixt couch cushions.
I LOVE the idea of virtual movie nights with friends! Netflix Party makes watching movies together, but apart, but also together very easy. It synchronizes video playback and adds group chat to your favorite Netflix shows, so socially distanced movie nights will be your new favorite thing. You could even level up by having each friend create a popcorn flavor recipe for everyone to make themselves, then have a collective taste test! (With voting and prizes for winners, obviously.)
I’m watching Taste The Nation, you’re watching Taste The Nation, everyone is watching this new Hulu show starring Padma Lakshmi and we’re all obsessed. It’s kiiinnnnddd of like leaving the house without leaving the house? Maybe? Let me dream.
If you love a good news briefing, What A Day is your new morning podcast. It’s a quick, 20-minute recap of the previous day’s news that’s really engaging to listen to and makes you feel caught up and informed.
While the daily essentials we rely on aren’t the most exciting things to shop for, they are the most annoying to deal with when they’re worn out and not really serving us well. Amazon has an amazing section of basics so that you can freshen up your supplies, especially as we head into what’s looking to be a sweltering summer. They have a wide selection of affordable, highly rated items like basic tees, tanks, shorts and the like, but this simple striped maxi dress is really calling my name.
I have heard really good things about Target’s newest line for linens and homeware. This whole collection feels so breezy and effortless, it’s basically like bringing beach house vibes into whatever house you’re currently living in, regardless of its proximity to the shore. This chunky knit bed blanket is calling my name.
According to a couple of my fine-haired friends, this Davines Liquid Spell mousse is the best hair product ever. It creates tons of volume and really lengthens the time you can go between blow outs, which is ideal in summer when you don’t want to suffer under the hair dryer’s firey breath more often than necessary. To use, just add a small amount to damp (not super wet!) hair, and then blow dry with a round brush or a brush/dryer combo tool. Dry in sections, working your way toward your crown. Happy hairstyling!
I was recently influenced by my good friend Eva (you know her as @thehappilyeva), to try these unbelievably tasty cheese snacks called Whisps. They’re a low carb, gluten-free cheesy crisp that come in a bunch of crazy delicious flavors and honestly just GIVE ME ALL THE WHISPS.
Um, hi hello, how are you—quick question: Do you love cute stationery? Do you buy it even when you don’t “need” it because you know for sure you’re gonna want to send someone snail mail really soon and make their day? WHELP, you need to shop at Greer, the incredibly cute stationery destination that’s based in Chicago and is also a Black-owned business! These gorgeous rollerball pens are in my shopping cart.
