11 Products From Black-Owned Brands That I’ve Purchased This Week
1
Beneath Your Mask Remedy Conditioning Lip Balm
In addition to being drawn to the most chic packaging ever, I love a balm that’s multi-purpose. I also love that this one is packed with nourishing ingredients that make it the ultimate summer balm for lips and anywhere else we’re feeling parched or even sunburned. Bonus: the flavor is yuzu and green mandarin, so….yes please.
2
Briogeo Scalp Revival Dry Shampoo
Briogeo is a brand you’ve seen featured here on Memorandum before. They’re known for having incredible shampoos and conditioners (I can personally attest but also, just look at the ratings), so the fact that they also make dry shampoo is a no brainer for me and the hair I have been washing… let’s say, less frequently since quarantine.
3
Pat McGrath Labs Parmagel Ultra Lip Pencil in Buff
Pat McGrath is one of the most iconic makeup artists in the biz and her line of luxury makeup has a cult following for a reason. I’m almost out of my everyday lip liner, so just ordered the brand’s lip liner in Buff, a warm nude shade. These pencils are known for blending seamlessly and lasting forever, so I can’t wait.
4
Lauren Napier Beauty Facial Cleansing Wipes
Ok, these I didn’t actually buy because I already own and LOVE LOVE LOVE. If you didn’t know, chic face wipes are a thing. Lauren Napier facial cleansing wipes are individually packaged so that they never dry out, making them absolutely ideal for travel or keeping in your purse. They’ve got a textured finish and are enriched with aloe and cucumber to soothe your skin as you clean off the day’s makeup.
5
Alaffia Shea Baby Shampoo & Body Wash
Never one to miss a shopping extravaganza, Colette was thrilled to find this lemon/lavender scented baby shampoo and body wash made by Alaffia. This vegan formula is made with unrefined shea butter and has a perfect 5-star rating. Her Baby Royal Highness approves and can’t wait for her next bath!
6
Mommy Wipes Stain Remover Wipes
Mommy Wipes is a brand that makes wipes for stains that I won’t horrify you with by articulating. These individually wrapped and therefore very diaper bag-friendly wipes are a Safer Choice product, meaning they’re made without harsh chemicals, dyes, perfumes, bleach or parabens. Any mom who’s ever been shall we say… barfed upon and the like… will appreciate keeping these handy. Nothing has been added to my shopping cart quicker.
7
Pretty Please Teethers Reed Teething Ring
Oh yes, my friends, it’s teething season in our house, so you better believe we’ll be using this adorable beed teether and this rainbow teether from Pretty Please Teethers. TBH this is the most chic teether I’ve ever seen and am considering using it as coffee table art afterward, just saying. If you have littles, be sure to also check out their loveys, bibs and pacifier clips.
8
Brother Vellies Black Lace-up Huarache Flats
Anyone who appreciates sustainability and traditional African design practices will no doubt have shopped Brother Vellies before. You’ve seen them in every fashion magazine you love, and now you can see them on your feet. All summer.
9
Hanifa Miya Knit Cardigan Dress
Ok so I haven’t actually ordered this one yet because my shopping nightmare happened: I added it to cart, I got carried away looking at other things on their website, and by the time I went back to my cart it was SOLD OUT. I’m praying there’s a restock soon because it’s the most gorgeous thing on the planet and comes in a million colors. I CAN’T GET THAT PURPLE ONE OUTTA MY HEAD THO. Please restock, Hanifa. I’m begging you.
10
Hope for Flowers by Tracy Reese Georgia Tie-Waist Buttondown
By now, fashion lovers everywhere know and love Tracy Reese. However, if you haven’t checked out her latest endeavor, Hope For Flowers, you’re missing out. I challenge you to find a cuter summer frock than this one, and I love the retro vibe and playful tie waist on this top.
11
HarperIman Penelope Handmade Tea Party Doll
While I realize Colette won’t be in full doll mode for a little while, I could not pass up this absolutely gorgeous handmade “Tea Party” doll. As a parent, I want to be really intentional about having diverse faces represented in what she sees, hears, reads and plays with. It’s the small, daily things we do at home that can often make the biggest difference. FYI, I’ve also bookmarked this etsy shop which also produces gorgeous heirloom dolls. Apparently they’re restocking soon!
