The sundress is a warm-weather staple that everyone adores. There’s nothing easier to throw on which I deeply appreciate since my time is occupied by a full-time job and full-time baby. Ann Taylor’s obviously got the sundress game won with this belted midi shirtdress in two classic colors, but I opted for black because… alas I am who I am. It’s a timeless silhouette in a warm-weather fabric that you’ll get tons of wear out of due to the fact that it’s so appropriate for a broad range of activities. (You know, once activities are appropriate again.) The dress provides a great canvas for accessories, and Ann Taylor has those covered in spades (or really, in gingham) too.
I can’t get over the detailing on this belt. The buckle is bamboo, and the woven pattern takes me immediately to chairs on a sunny patio, Aperol spritz in hand. Straw texture is something that can go too casual, too quickly, but Ann Taylor’s wisely designed and constructed accessories keep things polished. Example: this straw headband with knot detail. I’m only going to wear this thing about 10,000 times this summer, whether I leave the house or not.
On my feet, a pair of summer sandals (also love this pair) that are somehow as fun as they are chic, and the tiny black pom poms are clearly there to cheer you on every time you look at your toes. On the bag front, it is possible I’ve found summer’s cutest clutch by way of gingham print and bow detail. Matching my bag (because why not) are a pair of gingham drop earrings with a pearl detail that’s a welcome element no matter where you’re going or what’s on the agenda.
With temperatures rising and the sun shining longer each day, Rich and I decided to enjoy a little date night on the back patio last night and man did it feel good to wear something that wasn’t sweats or workout gear. The power of getting dressed, y’all. It’s really something. So whether going places is in our near future or not, throw this look on, grab a cocktail and head out the back door. Springtime is what we make of it!
Thanks to Ann Taylor and ShopStyle for partnering on this post!
