If you are looking for some fun entertainment this summer that does not involve the use of your eyes, throw on RomComPods, the new romantic comedy fiction podcast recently released by my friend Becca Freeman! It’s already wildly popular (probably something to do with that major feature at the top of Apple Podcasts?). For those seeking something light and fun while they cook dinner, fold laundry, or sink slowly into a poolside lounge chair, press play.
I have a feeling this summer is going to reinvent backyard entertainment, so let’s make it chic, shall we? Mark & Graham’s entire games section is so stylish (and giftable!). You likely already know my affinity for backgammon, so I’m starting with that set, but the chess board is equally wine-on-the-patio worthy. Also, pro tip: Get your dad a customized bags set for Father’s Day—which is really, really soon!
Have you noticed how summer swimwear this year is really exploring cool textures? Such is true of this belted beauty by Hunza G. It’s a seersucker bandeau with a high-cut leg and an earthy green shade that I’ve never owned swimwear in before but very much want to. This suit feels very “I’m on a yacht” instead of “I’m in a baby pool.” I think we all know where I am.
Love a pearl, love a pearl for summer. But there’s something especially elevated and charming (see what I did there) about these gold hoops with pearl charms from Mateo. The classic 14K gold hoops feature a detachable 6mm pearl charm. They’re perfect go-to earrings for summer and their versatility will make their cost-per-wear vanish by Labor Day.
& Other Stories is a brand I always forget to shop at and when I’m reminded, I promise myself I’m not going to forget again. Today, I’m renewing that promise. This affordable linen dress with square neck and slight poofy sleeves is an affordable summertime dream (and the low tiered ruffle doesn’t hurt, either). This is such a smart addition to your casual summer dress collection, you’re basically an earring and a gorgeous sandal away from done.
On June 26th, Freelancing Females (the Facebook group community for women who run their own freelancing business and other general boss-ery), is hosting Reignite, a day of online inspiration, education, and connection. For literally $11 you’ll get access to a full day of programming featuring over 20 speakers and guests all in the freelance space. If you’ve been thinking of starting a side hustle or going full-time as a freelancer, this is an incredible opportunity to learn and connect.
Not sure if you’ve heard, but Cole Haan is basically giving shoes away. Like, tossing them in your general direction, and simply asking you to pick them up. I just ordered these espadrilles, and these slides. A word on slides: They might be my favorite summer style because they can be worn with truly everything and they also translate really well between styles and levels of dressy/casual/sporty, exhibit A. Right now Cole Haan is offering extremely good discounts, and if you buy two or more pairs of shoes, you’ll get an extra 25% off. Sort out your summer shoe situation (say that five times fast) right now.
Hungry? You’re about to be. I recently found myself completely engrossed in Quin’s recipes, she’s the super talented creator of ButterBeReady. What am I talking about? Allow me to explain via these lemon sweet rolls or perhaps this challah bread pudding. Yeah, now you understand. On the savory side, the first recipe of hers on my list is a curry coconut collard greens dish with chickpeas and potatoes which I will be making tonight on instastories. See you there.
Lately I’ve been reading advice about wide tooth combs, and how much better they are for use on wet hair. This one, which is easily the most stylish thing in our bathrooms despite being, you know…a comb, is ideal for in-shower or just afterward. It’s also designed to offer a soothing scalp massage which has the added benefit of increasing blood flow to your hairs follicles. I have also been told that this comb is excellent for curly hair!
For anyone who dreams of having a garden but only has space for a potted plant, Glowpear’s system is a self-watering (SELF-WATERING) urban garden that takes up minimal space in your home or on your patio or balcony, and allows you to grow literally anything you want, from any space you have! I love the bench-style option, but it also comes in a mini version that can be hung on a wall, or a window box style as well. Grow fresh herbs and flowers regardless of the outdoor space you’re working with. It’s also especially nice to feel like you have a little more nature around you during social distancing!
Sometimes it feels like 2020 has been ten years instead of the one year it actually is, and in light of its penchant for overachievement, we might be feeling a little stressed. This is an excellent list of breathing exercises that can help you maintain your sense of calm (or get back to it). These are a wonderful new addition to your morning or evening routine, too.
Since we are all now our own manicurists, let’s make the job a little easier and less spill-prone. This genius nail polish holder is worn on your hand to keep your polish bottle upright and close at… hand. (I am hilarious.) Its ratings are through the roof so we know it works incredibly well, and it also comes in all of the colors. Like all of the colors that exist.
Who loves cleaning whisks? Yeah literally nobody, thx. This genius whisk wiper makes cleaning your kitchen’s most oddly shaped tool very easy. It’s ideal for baking and decorating when mixing up multiple recipe components, colors of frosting, etc. I especially love this for anyone who doesn’t have access to a dishwasher, to pre-clean the device, if you will.
LET’S TALK BABY HAIR MANAGEMENT. If you get annoyed (read: enraged) at all the baby hairs that frame your face (or fall out underneath your bun or ponytail), thisevery-texture hair product looks like a mascara wand and works like you have a personal hair stylist with you all night to keep your tresses tamed. Hair stays smooth and placed exactly where you want it. This is genius.
