    Holiday Jigsaw Puzzles

I feel like puzzles had a huge moment during the pandemic and then everyone forgot about them (or was it just me?). At the end of yet another wonderful but overwhelming holiday weekend, Rich and I pulled out this puzzle last night and were immediately reminded of why they’re the best. It’s so stress-relieving to direct your total focus and attention towards something that doesn’t involve a screen. During the holiday frenzy, I highly recommend spending just 15 minutes a day working on one of these. These jigsaw puzzles in particular are made from 1000 wood pieces that include unique…

    Tea Party Game

We recently received this tea party game as a gift from my sister-in-law and it has QUICKLY become my girls’ favorite. Appropriate for ages three and up, the game provides all of the elements of a tea party with none of the breakable china. The sturdy cardboard pieces are durable and the illustrations are adorable. As someone who appreciates the art of a beautifully-set table, I am proud that my girls are so taken with this one. Now, if I can just get Gigi to say “tablescape” as her first word, my work here will be done.

    Coffee Table Games

The Swedish-based design company PRINTWORKS created a series of classic games disguised as coffee table books. They’re not only gorgeous, they’re totally functional. My personal favorite is backgammon, but I wouldn’t be opposed to collecting them all. Such a great way to keep these fun items accessible instead of tucking away your favorite games in a cabinet!

    Story Time Chess

We recently came across this Story Time Chess game at a friends’ house and turns out, it won the 2021 Toy of The Year Award. Do you like how I said that like I knew that award existed prior to five minutes ago? Nevertheless, I can attest the game is a winner and if you’re a chess lover and/or want your child to be, this is it. The box includes chess sets for kids and mini games that bring the game of chess alive and weave the rules and strategy of the game through fun and engaging stories. It’s perfect…

    Areaware Little Puzzle Thing

These jigsaw puzzles from Areaware are MY OBSESSION. At only 70-pieces, you won’t have to clear off the dining room table and reserve three weeks to complete it like you would a major puzzle. These can be completed in under an hour and are therefore like the “wordle” of the puzzle world. They’re good for ages six and up and come in six delicious food shapes like a Chicago Hot Dog or Cupcake. A great gift!

    Wordle

Yep, I too have been consumed by the gaming phenomenon that is Wordle! If you love puzzles and word games, go ahead and let yourself get sucked into this maddeningly addictive world. It’s a daily puzzle where you have six tries to guess the day’s “word,” and it’s a lot harder than you think! The results are really fun to share and compare, too. Personally, I love that you can only do it once a day so there’s no danger of getting addicted and distracted from your to-do list.

    Vera Cornhole Game

Attention: Lawn games can be chic! Honestly, I thought all lawn games either came in garish colors for children or overly sporty hues that don’t really go with the ambiance I’m trying to create out there, but I was wrong. This is probably the first stylish version of cornhole I’ve ever seen and therefore I very much need it in our backyard immediately. I was kind of hoping it also came with an Aperol Spritz but that’s fine. Anthropologie actually has several other outside amusements worth looking into!

    Magnetic Blocks

Look, it’s not often that toys for little ones get this adjective assigned to them, but these magnetic blocks are honestly chic. This 42-piece set of stylish blocks are magnetic, assisting kiddos in their building ideas and also maaaaaaybe making clean up just a bit easier too. Good for kids three and up!

    Tabletopics

This is so cool and such a great gift for families. Tabletopics is a game that’s specifically designed to engage kids in the art of conversation. All that worrying you’ve been doing about kids basically only existing head-down in their phones? THIS HELPS. It’s a fun mix of questions that are really thoughtful and likely to help families connect in new and unexpected ways.
