I’ve been asked a few times now about the volumizers I use on my hair. Assuming this desert island has electricity, this is my process: Towel dry hair. Then apply this volumizing tonic and phomollient (both from AVEDA) through the roots of damp hair. Blow dry in the opposite direction/upside down. Once hair is dry, apply this Living Proof dry shampoo through roots and style with either hot rollers or my Dyson Airwrap. Personally, I don’t find the dry shampoo makes a very big difference in the volume, but it helps lengthen the lifespan of my blowout — especially if you apply it on freshly cleaned hair.
As some of you may remember, I ditched my mammoth wallet years ago for this Saint Laurent card case and have never gone back. I love having everything in one compact little card case that’s small enough to be thrown in my tiniest clutch or a side pocket of my largest tote. The only way I could conceive of it being improved upon is with the addition of a top zipper which is exactly what this Smythson one offers. The zipper pocket is a great add for coins or small items that need protection without overstuffing the case.
With children come deep feelings of joy but also, lots of colorful, plastic toys that ruin your vibe. And, when those toys (and shoes and games and snack traps) don’t go with the décor we so lovingly picked out, we must find solutions. This acrylic squatty potty step is perfect for little ones who need a boost to get to the potty but the clear, minimal design makes it unobtrusive to your interior style. Wins all around.
Industry insiders know that no one does flats better than Repetto and I think these beauties — which come in black and tan — are such a chic alternative to the slingback. There are few things I love more than a classic slingback in the springtime but that single strap around the back of the foot can sometimes make your Achilles ache after a few hours (not to mention, give you a blister). These flats offer a supportive heel with cut out sides that still provide a nod to warm weather.
Have you spent 27% of your adult life fishing through your purse looking for things? Same. I’ve shared these purse organizers before, but this handbag light is the next tool in your arsenal if you also struggle to find things in your own bag. The light is small, lightweight and motion-activated — perfect for travel!
I wore this vibrant Hester Bly maxi skirt this past week and it is absolutely as comfortable as it is colorful. Take a scroll through the whole Hester Bly website and give an extra minute or two to the brand’s story — the collection is feminine and empowering, just like the feminists who inspired the brand’s name (Nellie Bly and Lady Hester Stanhope) and the inspiring historical figures who inspire the design of each collection.
If you’re a lover of afternoon tea like I am, this tea box from Mrs. Bakewell’s is just the thing. The gift box includes six of Mrs. Bakewell’s classic English scones, a jar of Bonne Maman strawberry preserves, a jar of Coombe Castle clotted cream, Twinings tea, and wooden mini spoons. It’d make a perfect hostess or housewarming gift for and tea or The Crown fans in your life.
These tapered black pants from Vince look killer with a pair of loafers but the best part? The front looks like a classic tailored pleated pant while the back reveals a pull-on elastic waistline. They’re like a black pant mullet — business in the front, COMFORT in the back. I own them in two colorways.
Bubbles & Joy is a family-owned business that offers monthly kids subscription boxes with sustainable bath toys, activities and other bath time essentials. The founders were sick of moldy toys and bath time feeling like a hostage negotiation. Each month Bubbles & Joy sends a new collection of premium, all-natural brands with a focus on quality and fun. In addition to gift boxes and other bath time fun, the Bubbles & Joy website also offers tips on caring for your bath toys and recommendations based on age.
The Swedish-based design company PRINTWORKS created a series of classic games disguised as coffee table books. They’re not only gorgeous, they’re totally functional. My personal favorite is backgammon, but I wouldn’t be opposed to collecting them all. Such a great way to keep these fun items accessible instead of tucking away your favorite games in a cabinet!
You may never have heard the word deluxe in conjunction with a cup holder, but there’s no other way to describe this cup holder that was recently recommended by @TheBuyGuide. The cup holders expand to fit most cups and mugs and insulating foam keeps your beverages hot or cold longer. The holder is durable, washable, and the perfect addition to your car or couch.
The DBreak retro sneaker from Nike is your completely tonal “chic” sneaker. The style is a throwback to their marathon-winning 1979 original but the all-tan colorway gives a fresh update to a comfy classic. They’re also available in white.
I’ve never asked someone IRL what blush they’re wearing… at least not until last week. I was standing outside of a restaurant and simply *had* to ask the women next to me how she achieved the most perfect, glowy flush of color on her cheeks. Lo and behold, she pulled this on-the-go blush from Pixie out of her bag and I ordered it immediately. Don’t be intimidated by the dark pink ruby shade you see in the tube. This hydrating formula looks amazing on (cheeks AND lips).
Some clothing comes turbo-charged with versatility, like this denim dress from Zara. This long denim dress is like a blank canvas — it can be layered, belted, dressed up or dressed down. It’s the perfect everyday dress and how you style it makes all the difference (plus, it’s pregnancy friendly).
Whatever eyewear you wear, it can be made a little more glamorous with one of these frame chains. The collection has fluorescent plastic chains, delicate 18K yellow gold plated chains, even freshwater pearl chains. (You didn’t think I forgot about pearls, did you?) There’s something for everyone, because who doesn’t love jewelry that helps you never lose your favorite frames.
This flower belt from Sandro is the perfect addition to any outfit: from sweater dresses to blazers to spring frocks (even that long denim dress from Zara). The 100% leather belt comes in black and tan and the brass flower closure harkens spring flowers.
I’ve been seeing these Bala Bangle wrist and ankle weights everywhere for years and finally pulled the trigger. They come in one or two pound weights and nearly a dozen cute colors. You can add them to your work out for some extra weight, or wear them throughout the workday to tone your arms while just… living your life. They’re amazing and I wish I’d bought them sooner.
This striped tee from AYR stopped me in my tracks. The wide stripe, the oversized fit, the perfectly-tucked styling. I purchased immediately.Right now AYR is offering 20% off two or more tees so I’d suggest you buy this one too, because I own it in two colors and really, you can never have too many stripes in your closet.
This retractable kabuki brush is ideal for anyone needing touchups on-the-go. It works with loose and pressed powders, foundation, highlight, contour, blush and more because the bristles retract. Fully extended, it’s ideal for loose powder or light application of foundation. Retract it halfway and the bristles are tighter making it ideal for applying contour. Retract the bristles completed and they’re perfectly protected when you pack the brush away in your tote.
I love this grocery list that comes with a full panel refrigerator magnet on the back and a pen holder at the bottom. Each page has forty check boxes and each notepad has fifty pages. It’s an easy, organized way to keep track of what you need, where you need it.
I love the idea of having this clear shelf divider with hanger attachment in my closet for setting out your outfit for the next day. Not only does the divider keep your items organized, but you can use the hanger knob to set out anything that needs to be kept wrinkle-free. They’re available in different heights, depending on your closet needs.
