To me, nothing screams spring more than daffodils, and the golden beauties depicted above that were recently planted in front of my office definitely ease the pain of returning to work this Monday morning.  Today’s Monday Muse is all about these quintessential spring flowers which also serve up a heavy dose of spring fashion inspiration thanks to Rupert Sanderson.  The celebrated British designer whose shoes are worn by the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Naomi Watts and the future Queen of England (to name a few) also draws inspiration from the beautiful spring flower and actually names every shoe after a different daffodil.  You can see some of my favorites above with their associated daffodil name.  And, since there are over 25,000 named daffodil hybrids, there’s little risk that he’ll run out of names any time soon.  While you may not be placing an order for these pricey beauties in the near term, the colors and silhouettes are something to keep in mind when making your next spring footwear purchase (abridging the heel height slightly for the office of course, see: The Hooker Heel).  In particular, check out the embellished heel on Rupert’s Birdie above which is nothing short of breathtaking.  Heel embellishment is a trend we’ve seen a lot of recently, and I for one, hope it continues… at least longer than the 8-10 days that an actual daffodil lasts (wimps). Happy Monday, people!P.S.  If you’re looking to bring a little extra attention to your own heels this spring in a more office-friendly way, check out these Kate Spade beauties (and these!) or this amazing DIY by Lauren Conrad (God knows I’m a sucker for a good arts and crafts project).
