Contrary to popular opinion, this week’s Monday Muse is not, in fact, centered on the unveiling of “North” West (her therapist is going to make a killing someday). I know, I know, it really doesn’t get much more amusing than that. Instead, I thought I’d share an excerpt from one of my favorite Emily Dickinson poems that I stumbled upon yesterday, as well as a few photos from my weekend — the first official summer weekend. I was lucky enough to spend mine with just the right mix of beach time, baseball games, family, best friends, juicy watermelon, and flowers in full bloom.…

I have to be honest, when my friend Morgan explained what “instagram” was almost two years ago, I wasn’t exactly dying to jump on the bandwagon. I think my thoughts were along the lines of, “Fantastic. Yet another social networking platform for the pseudo-photographer narcissist in your life. Thank goodness some computer programmer out there is ensuring that we can photographically document every mundane element of our day, because I was super worried that the population’s collective level of self-absorption wasn’t expanding rapidly enough. And I definitely care about how your starbucks coffee looked this morning.”…something like that anyway.Ok, so maybe I…

In addition to drooling (literally) over the fashion spotted at last week’s CFDA awards and last night’s Tony Awards, this week’s Monday Muse is all about the recently unveiled Resort 2014 collections. The fashion landscape was refreshed with Oscar de la Renta‘s feminine silhouettes, Gucci‘s beachy prints, Rebecca Minkoff‘s florals and much much more. While it’s impossible to pick a favorite among the incredible collections (cough… Erdem… cough), many of the Resort 2014 collections even included pieces that serve up some serious office-ready style inspiration for professional chicks on the go. Check out some of my favorites below…(I promise that little…

This week’s Monday Muse is the recent amazing piece by Ann Friedman in The Cut which should probably be required reading for all females. As discussed by Friedman, women (and men!) all too often feel needlessly threatened by the success of others. In many cases, they even view those successes as somehow detracting from their own accomplishments. In the inspiring article, Friedman offers up a great alternative to all this lady hatin’ and highlights the fact that in reality, success is not a zero sum game: When you meet a woman who is intimidatingly witty, stylish, beautiful, and professionally accomplished, befriend her. Surrounding yourself with the best people doesn’t make…

This week’s Monday Muse is coming fresh off the glittering screen of Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby. While it’s probably not a great idea to start donning flapper dresses and diamond headpieces at the office, the colors, textures and jewelry elements may be just the inspiration you need to refresh your work (and weekend) wardrobe this spring and summer. I for one haven’t been wearing pearls much in recent months and that clearly needs to change… Check out even more from The Classy Cubicle on… INSTAGRAM + BLOGLOVIN + FACEBOOK TWITTER + PINTEREST
