There are few retailers that nail workwear season after season like Ann Taylor. After perusing the new fall collection, I can confidently say that this season is no exception. Today, I’m sporting this mixed tweed jacket in shades of blue-gray with black leather accents and a complementary tweed pencil skirt. Tweed is about as classic as textiles get, but Ann Taylor does an amazing job of modernizing the tried and true fabric with a cropped silhouette and leather detailing. I kind of feel like this jacket is the female workwear equivalent of Cal Naughton Jr’s tuxedo t-shirt in Talladega Nights. C’mon. You know the quote.

As you may have noticed, I’ve been on a bit of a black and white binge lately. The simplified color palette has been mostly inadvertent, but somehow really refreshing in the transition to fall. If you’re a color fan (like I am, usually), don’t worry, I promise I haven’t made any kind of chromatic vow of silence. Many more bright hues to come!
