Monday Memo No. 179
Pleated skirts, princess books and the supplements giving me my best postpartum hair. Third time’s the charm.
I ordered this facial massager from TheraFace back in July and absolutely love it. The handheld device actually does way more than just massage your face, it has six different attachments for a range of uses like microcurrent for skin brightening or the LED light to stimulate collagen. I also used the compressive massage function when I had a horrible sinus infection to help increase blood flow and it worked unbelievably well. This facial massager is like the Swiss Army Knife of facial tools and has been worth every penny.
I’m officially obsessed with this cozy wool gray popover top from Tuckernuck. The fit is inspired by vintage equestrian pieces and I adore the way this popover top looks paired with a white button-down layered underneath with a popped collar. Effortlessly chic, no horse required.
If you’ve ever had to step in before your child careens off the couch in a heated game of "let's pretend the floor is lava," these stepping blocks are for you. Each set includes six blocks in multiple heights and sizes that can be set up to create an obstacle course indoors or out. Not only do they challenge your kids to configure their own playground, but jumping between the blocks is great for coordination and balance. Not to mention, they’re less risky than diving off the dining room table.
This white button-down from A.L.C. hits all the marks of a wardrobe classic — the dropped shoulders, the oversized fit, the crisp collar. But the treasure hidden in this obvious classic shirt is the flared, elastic sleeves that can be rolled up and styled to perfection. Excuse me while I send a handwritten thank you note to Lindsay Silberman for the rec.
I have been using this volume & texture spray from Living Proof for the past three months and my hair is the living proof that it’s a Godsend. Personally, I like to use it right after styling to add a bit of texture and lock in volume. This product not only helps me extend blowouts, but I notice my hair (which has a tendency to fall flat after a few hours) stays voluminous all day.
Since Oreo cookies were invented, there have been countless limited-edition varieties like Apple Pie Oreos, Gingerbread Oreos, even Candy Corn Oreos. My favorite twist on the classic sandwich cookie is the Red Velvet Oreos, which were discontinued back in 2020 (for shame). Thankfully, I'm not alone in my deeply-held desire for a return of the red velvet Oreo and the brand has finally succumbed to the will of the people. Red Velvet Oreos are back on shelves while supplies last! But based on their popularity, I wouldn’t bank on supplies lasting long...
My most recent ballet flat obsession comes by way of these satin ballet flats from Loeffler Randall. The shiny satin, the bow detail, the elastic vamp strap — the only thing giving me a second thought about these beauties is whether to order the chocolate-y brown or terra cotta tan. Help.
There is so much gear we’re told we need when we have a baby, but this portable rocking chair is an actual must-have. There’s no need to buy a bulky glider for every room when this thoughtfully designed, ergonomic rocker can turn any chair into a rocker. Not only can you use it anywhere, it also helps ease back pain and reduce anxiety. Add. To. Registry.
I have been lusting over brushed knit alpaca sweaters this fall, but while the full alpaca options look cool, they are a shedding nightmare. Enter: this alpaca wool blend Madewell cardigan. It has the same soft, brushed knit look, with none of the shedding. And for an alpaca sweater, you can’t beat this price point.
I have been using Nutrafol postpartum supplements since I got home from the hospital and this is the best post-baby hair I’ve ever had (third time’s the charm). The postpartum formula specifically reduces shedding and promotes hair growth with all natural ingredients. For me, the results speak for themselves. If you want to give it a try, THIS LINK will take $50 off your first 3 months or $106 off your first six months.
I am blown away by the response to my collaboration with Kilte Collection (and we've already restocked, so if your size was sold out, check again!). Recently, I was wearing the Elizabeth Set in rose and I was stopped TWICE by strangers asking where I got it, complimenting the color. Photos don’t begin to do this color justice. The light camel and black shades are classic, but this rose is truly the most magical color for fall. And, if you’re new here, I should add that the whole collection is made from washable cashmere sustainably made in Italy.
I can’t remember the last time I loved a pair of jeans as much as I love these trouser jeans from Goldsign. Their denim is produced in small batches and I can attest that they’re worth the investment. The pleating and fit of these jeans is absolute perfection. They’re mid-weight, non-stretch denim is heavenly, and I recommend you go down one size as they run slightly large.
It’s officially October, which is almost November, which is basically December. What I'm trying to say is that it’s Christmas Eve in my mind and I'm ready for gifting. I recently got the cutest Buru x Baublestockings collaboration stockings and they came packaged on what looked like a bed of metallic confetti. Upon closer inspection, I realized that the metallic confetti was actually a tinsel garland which was BRILLIANT because it didn’t make a mess all over my floor. I immediately ordered some tinsel garland of my own (tons of colors here!) to keep on hand for future gifts. Not only is it more convenient for the recipient to avoid a confetti mess, but it can also be reused as holiday decor! Gifting wins all around.
I bought this pleated navy skirt from Tibi a few weeks ago and have already worn it countless times. The lightweight fabric is a seasonless dream but prepare to see me in it far too much this fall and winter. You can pair it with fall boots and a blazer or dress it down with sneakers and a t-shirt or oversized sweater. It will truly be a staple in my closet for the rest of forever.
Whether you’re assisting your kids in a delicate art project or actually looking to hang said art project on the fridge, you’re going to want to check out this magnetic tape. It has light adhesive on one side and a light magnet — perfect for photos and paper — on the other side. This tape is easy to tear and stick anywhere magnetic, like filing cabinets, lockers or whiteboards.
Someone please get me a bib because Sezane’s new arrivals are a drool-fest. Currently inhabiting my shopping cart is this 60s-inspired short wool dress, this fall-ready loafer and this pink suede jacket. It's giving fall Barbie.
I absolutely love this idea for any fall decor or tablescaping needs. You just take an apple corer (like this corer I just ordered) to a pumpkin and use that space for a candle. Then, you can add all sorts of flowers, leaves and berries with a toothpick or pin to personalize your centerpiece. Get ready to see this idea on my Thanksgiving table next month.
This zip-up floral cardigan from Tyler Böe is one of the reasons I love sweater weather. The navy and powder blue floral pattern, the slightly puffed sleeves — it’s sweater weather gold!
If you have a little one who is obsessed with Disney princesses, you need this book. Whether it’s Jasmine or Cinderella, this bestselling storybook has over 250 pages of Disney princess stories your kids know and love. Each story is abridged and is the perfect length for a bedtime story (roughly five minutes), so we can all live happily ever after.
We bought this Miele canister vacuum back in June and I thought it was absurd to spend this much on a vacuum, but our new cleaning lady (who comes to us with a long career of expertise) insisted. I echo the glowing review laid out in this article by an author who apparently had the same experience with a cleaning lady who insisted on it. The most spot-on line: "While Dyson has that British sex appeal, futuristically garish design, and woohoo-what-a-cool-invention marketing strategy, Miele’s vacuums have nothing but blunt German know-how." Amen. The Marin style is available in five colors and is currently 20% on Amazon. Trust when I say, this is the best and last vacuum you’ll ever need.

100% agree on the vacuum! Best vacuum I have ever owned!
Yes, Trust Mary re the Miele Canister Vacuum! 35 years ago, my husband and I, as newlyweds, splurged on a Miele canister vacuum because it had a Hepa filter and he had allergies and we had a couple of cats. We STILL have the same vacuum and I am still in love with it. I even met a friend via a vacuum discussion at a baby shower 30ish years ago when we discovered we had the same Miele and instantly bonded and became friends for life.
A few years ago, we were on a trip to Vancouver, when I discovered that there was a “Miele Experience Center” near our hotel. I had to make a pilgrimage and honestly it was as memorable as our Vancouver Sea Plane excursion.
Our Miele has had some nips and tucks through the years and its easy to find replacement parts and order filters online.
You’re an amazing woman, your Memorandums are calming, beautiful and informative. I’ve read them for years.
You have to be exhausted, but these are years to treasure. Enjoy every minute. God be with you.
Brilliant ideas as always. Your sense of humor is great! Love your cashmere collection too.
