New Sarah Flint Favorites
You may have missed this footwear development, and that simply won’t do: Sarah Flint, as in the Sarah Flint who has never made a shoe I didn’t want ten of, recently released two new styles that are absolutely essential. First, TASSELED HOUSE SHOES. I have them in plum and these slippers were my go-to throughout the holidays. Second, you need to see the Linda boot. I gave a pair to my mother for Christmas, and she hasn’t stopped raving about them since. You should note that these run about a full size large (so I ordered one full size down from her normal size) but she said they were incredibly comfortable right from the first wear. Mariposa Numbered Birthday Candle Holders
I saw them while shopping IRL and knew I had to have these Mariposa numbered birthday candle holders. It’s so smart to have a candle holder set like this (plus some chic birthday candles on hand at all times), especially for a kiddo’s birthday when you maaaaaybe don’t have time to run out and get a candle in the shape of the correct number. These make for an excellent host gift or even a baby/bridal shower gift, too!
Quilted Totême Coat
This Quilted Totême Coat has lived rent-free in my mind for months and then I happened to see a woman wearing it in the grocery store last weekend. I’m clearly being instructed by the Universe to complete the purchase. It has languished in my shopping cart for too long. Now, my biggest dilemma is the black colorway or the olive. THIS IS HARD. There’s also a cropped version if you prefer that, but I think I’m going for the full-length quilted coziness. In the static product images, the long version might look a little bulky/overwhelming, but in person, it’s super chic. The video on this page helps showcase the gorgeous draping of the front and also gives me the impression that the side slits will be super comfortable and functional getting in and out of cars.
Super Smalls Bead Kit
I’m not saying that beaded craft kits are the reason I had children, but I’m not not saying that either. This gift for kids aged four and up lets you I mean your little one explore their inner jewelry designer. Coco is only two, so she needed a little help with some aspects of tying knots and threading tiny beads since she’s a bit young, but we have spent many hours over the past week creating bracelets together and she’s obsessed. I’m calling it right now, this waterproof bluetooth speaker is the best $15 you’ll spend in 2022. The ratings speak for themselves, but you can also take it from me that this completely waterproof speaker is incredibly easy to use, offers great sound quality for the price, and is a much better idea than keeping your phone on the edge of the tub (just saying). Sherpa Lounge Set
It’s a sherpa fleece-lined set of sweats and I’m not sure what more we need to discuss. I don’t know about you, but these days, my tolerance for being cold is about as strong as a wet Kleenex. I have no time or patience for winter’s chill, so I bought this incredibly affordable set in both navy and black. The sweatshirt and sweatpants are available in an array of colors and styles (I have the zip-up in navy and the mock neck in black) and I’m thoroughly impressed by the quality—there isn’t a draft that stands a chance. If it’s freezing outside and you need to stay warm and comfortable as you go about your day, do yourself this incredibly cozy favor but take note of two important tips: (1) If you’re interested in the same navy set that I have, you should know that for some reason they call the zip-up “dark blue” and these pants “navy blue” but they are indeed the exact same color and material. (2) The sweatpants run true-to-size while the sweatshirts all run small so I recommend going up one size in both the regular sweatshirt and the zip-up hoodie. P.S. I shared this set on instagram stories right before Christmas and someone DM’d me that they sent this set to their sister who was going through a tough time. I immediately added it to my shortlist of great gifts. What a sweet surprise this would be!
Satin Ribbon
The holidays are over, but having a fresh supply of gift wrap for all seasons is just smart. I love this satin ribbon, because after years of searching, I finally found one that is exceptional quality and so affordable—just $6 for 25 yards! Last year, I made the mistake of ordering expensive ribbon without checking the yardage only to find out on Christmas Eve that there were approximately 3 inches on each roll. Refresh your post-holiday supplies with every color you can think of, and never scramble for stylish gift wrapping supplies again.
Gap Little Girls Tights
There are few things cuter than tights for little girls. However, there is some sort of conspiracy amongst tight makers to drive parents crazy because most brands offer a completely confounding size range. Typically, tight sizing jumps straight from size 12-24 to size 2-4. WHY? What two-year-old is that close in size to a four-year-old? Every pair of 2-4 sized tights that I ordered for Coco (who is a very tall 27-month-old) was comically large for her. After voicing this extremely niche frustration on instagram, many suggestions for Gap’s tights popped up in my DM inbox because they’re offered in sizes 2-3. Sure enough, they’re the best toddler tights I’ve found and fit like a glove. They also have a little bear on the bum which makes an already extremely cute situation even more adorable. Coco can get away with anything when wearing these suckers.
Theory Cableknit Turtleneck Sweater
I know I don’t have to do much convincing past “Theory sweater at 40% off,” but this one is special. I have purchased it in both colors at full price because after buying the ivory and seeing how stunning and high quality the knit is, I had to have the olive (“military”) colorway, too. I also recently did a massive closet cleanout and saw the stockpile of poor-quality cableknits that have not stood the test of time. This time, I was looking to invest in quality that would last me many years rather than continue to waste money on lesser versions that get thrown on the donation pile after two wears. This turtleneck sweater with mixed bobbles and cable knit detailing is the ideal cut both in terms of the turtleneck height (no grappling with folding down the neckline) and the hem length because it’s just long enough to cover your zipper in front, but not so long that it throws off proportions when wearing real pants.
Elaluz Liquid Body Bronzer
Anyone who has tried a non-self tanning body bronzer knows that they all claim to be transfer-proof and they’re all liars. Invariably, the product rubs off onto your clothing, sheets, children, furniture—you name it. However, I bought this body bronzer by Elaluz in shade Yummy Natural a couple of months ago, and it actually IS transfer-proof. No marks on clothing or sheets, nothing—this bronzer literally won’t budge until you scrub it off with soap. The color is natural and I deeply appreciate that it comes in a shimmer and non-shimmer version because 99.9% of the time, I just want a little natural color without looking like I’m competing in Miss Teen USA.
Anine Bing Houndstooth Jacket
On the topic of outerwear, I can never own too much houndstooth. I recently bought this Anine Bing Houndstooth Jacket and I mention it to you now so that you can start stalking it before it sells out. Since things often sell out quickly at Shopbop, you can also shop it here and here, or you can opt for the classic blazer version here, too. The lightweight makes it a great layering piece and also means you’re likely to get endless wear out of it in both fall and spring, depending on how you style it. I love outerwear that’s versatile and classic because your cost per wear basically disappears.
Rich’s Favorite Ugg Slippers
Because we haven’t quite covered enough shearling-lined items yet today, I wanted to share Rich’s favorite slippers with you because I’m constantly asked to re-share and according to my DMs, they were a Christmas MVP for many of you after I included them in the men’s gift guide. I actually bought them for my brother-in-law after drawing his name for Secret Santa, but they’re also a great item to keep in your back pocket for Valentine’s Day. Ugg makes this “Scuff” style in several different colorways, but this specific version sold at Saks has a more refined leather upper with luxe leather trim that gives them more polish than other offerings from the brand. Rich loves the mule style because they’re easy to slip on and off and without a back, his feet stay warm but don’t overheat.
Amazon Cable Knit Sweater Vest
Trends can be tricky. You want to try them, but don’t want to spend a ton of money just in case it isn’t quite a fit for you. (See what I did there? Fit? New year, same bad jokes, people.) This super-affordable cable knit vest from Amaozn lets you try the trend for yourself without committing to an investment. There are so many colors, and honestly, you’ll never be sad to have this classic piece on hand. I own the khaki and love the color and cable knit detail.
Lalo Infant Spoons
I apologize that this one is a little niche, but if you’ve ever been involved in introducing real food to a baby, you know that having the right spoon can make or break the whole operation. In the last two years, I’ve probably tried just about every existing piece of baby and toddler tableware on the market, and let me tell you, this Lalo spoon is THE ONE. I really love their full kit, but if you purchase nothing else, PURCHASE THESE SPOONS. Everything about these infant spoons are ideal: the size, shape, thin-ness of the spoon’s lip, everything. I’m telling you, no other brand comes close and I wish I had discovered them when Coco was an infant.
Goodles Healthy Mac and Cheese
I inadvertently caused some instagram commotion over this ridiculously delicious and healthy (!!!!) mac and cheese a couple weeks ago, and I offer no apologies. Ruffled Marble Bowl
I’ve had my eye on a ruffled or scalloped marble bowl for ages and finally just ordered this beauty. The ruffling is dramatic in a really fresh way, and I can’t wait to use it to hold fruit in the kitchen or place on my entry console for a chic statement.
