If you’re new to my bi-annual series, here’s the gist: Every day for the next 30 consecutive days I’ll be sharing a favorite dress geared towards a specific fall or winter occasion. We’re talking everything from job interviews, to winter weddings, to holiday parties and beyond. In addition to the specific dress I’m wearing, every post will be chock full of occasion-specific styling tips and additional favorite dresses, with the hopes of making your styling decisions this season stress-free. And I think we can all cheers to a stress-free holiday season, amiright?
It’s the sixth time I’m doing this series (time FLIES y’all) and I look forward to it every spring and fall. However, this time around, we’re going to be mixing things up because you know, we’ve gotta keep your closet on its toes. First surprise? The brand spankin’ new MEMORANDUM.COM! It’s been a looooong time coming, and I hope you like it as much I’ve enjoyed working on it. We’re still working out little kinks here and there, so thanks, in advance, for your patience and don’t hesitate to shoot me an email (mary@memorandum.com) if you have any issues!
Speaking of emails, there will be additional surprises sent out exclusively to email subscribers so go ahead and sign up here if you haven’t already.
Today, we’re starting out with an ode to sweater weather with my favorite—the sweater dress. This is the trusty closet staple that’s ready to give you a sartorial hug on days when you just want to be cozy, but your schedule begs to differ. The Zimmermann sweater dress I’m wearing today takes full advantage of the fact that embellishments can be everything in cold weather, offering texture and show-stopping details that keep things interesting when the skies are nothing but gray. This season, I’ve already spoken about how much embellished sleeves are enjoying themselves at the moment, and these puffy-shouldered balloon sleeves that slink on down into cabled cuffs are exactly my point.

Whether you opt for an embellished mini dress or a classic ribbed midi, make sure you have a few solid sweater dresses in rotation this year. They make the daily grind far more bearable when it’s actually freezing and your instinct is to simply wear the duvet from your bed.

Outstanding. You look chic in this flawless dress. I was always afraid of knitted dresses since it made me feel fat. But these pictures inspired me a lot. Thank you for this.
