Happy Friday!! I can’t tell you how good it feels to say that. It’s been a real doozy of a work week which included some major technological and internet malfunctions (Comcast=Lord Voldemort), hence the relatively sparse posting this week. But things are looking up! The weekend is almost here, and today I’m sharing two new favorites that are each, in their own right, the. actual. bomb.
The first is this pinstripe blazer that’s basically the most immaculate creation since N*Sync dropped their debut album. The longline cut, the shawl collar, the drape? It’s the Justin Timberlake of blazers. The second is this pair of perfect light-but-not-too-light wash mom jeans that basically have made all my dreams of becoming Kelly Kapowski come true minus the flawless brunette mane and cheerleader charm… and maybe like one or 4,000 other things.
Honestly, I have been searching for the perfect high-waisted tapered leg light wash jeans for almost three years, and not only did I finally spot them, but when my eyes darted down frantically to find the sub-$100 price tag, I’m not positive, but I’m 99.9% certain that somewhere, out-of-sight, Celine Dion sang a triumphant rendition of I Drove All Night (to get to youuuuu) and a rainbow appeared overhead as I clutched the nearly 100% cotton, high-waisted masterpiece in my arms.

That is to say that I was shopping online from my couch, so in that particular moment, there wasn’t so much a physical price tag, an actual rainbow or a lot of clutching of the jeans themselves, per se, but Celine Dion was playing in the background because when do I not have Celine Dion playing in the background? So that’s still a fairly accurate description of the moment.
Whether you pair the blazer with jeans for a casual Friday ensemble or turn it up with a sleek pencil skirt for a more business formal look, it’s an amazing, classic piece to add to your work wardrobe (and play wardrobe!) and it’s currently 30% off! Soooo it may have technically been a crummy work week, but finding both my new favorite jeans under $100 AND the best blazer of all time on major sale? That’s God’s work is what that is.
BLAZER: BCBGMAXAZRIA (30% off!) | JEANS: Cheap Monday (under $100!!) | TANK: Joie | PUMPS: SJP Collection (also HERE) | BAG: c/o 3.1 Phillip Lim (similar HERE and HERE) | BRACELET: Monica Vinader | PENDANT NECKLACE: c/o Melinda Maria | FRINGE NECKLACE: c/o Melinda Maria | LIPS: Nars (Bansar)

Have a great weekend, guys!!

Classy, classic and racey all in on! That is one quintessential look.
As an older woman who wore these jeans a ton in my youth…I need to pick your brain—I’m not being sarcastic or mean. I truly admire your style (as evidenced from the comments I have left occasionally), so was wondering what the advantage to this type of jean is for you? I’m trying to be open to new silhouettes, but I can’t remember why the high waist is good?
thanks for the time,

I bought a pair of jeans similar to these last year and I LOVE them. Typically, I pair them with either a blazer like you did or a button down shirt tied up or tucked in to show off the high waist. When did the 90’s become so chic?!?!

Great post, but stick with the latin spelling of “per se”. Still love N’Sync.
Haha yes, that whole section is in jest so I spelled it phonetically as a joke, but now realize that isn’t necessarily clear to the reader… aaaand just makes it look like I’m illiterate. Updated now with latin spelling FTW! Thanks lady!
This is such a classy look! Love that blazer!

People make fun of mom jeans all the time and as someone who is in her 60s I look foolish trying to wear some of the jeans out there for younger women. So a big THANK YOU for making them acceptable.
Have a great weekend.
Super cute white pumps!

I’m not sure if this is what you intended – but I love how you took three of the most quintessential 80s styles (pinstripes, mom jeans, and white pumps) and made them entirely accessible for 2016.
Just bought the blazer at Bloomingdales and love it! As a woman moving into her 40s I thought I had to give up my love of BCBG when I entered my 30s. Thanks for proving me wrong!
Very nice ensemble! Love the blazer!
I’m loving this look and your writing style! You are giving me major inspo for the relaunch of my blog dedicated to the “newly minted” professional, stylishly navigating the real world. I’m so excited to learn more from you!
