This is the first time I’ve heard of such a thing, but it really is a good idea. So much rushing around on the actual day that you are probably much more relaxed the day after anyway!

Oh my… Everything looks like a dream!!! Royal wedding!!
These are stunning! My fiance and I are choosing not to do a first look, either, and the photos are definitely a concern for us…we’re not leaving for our honeymoon for two days, so I’ll have to look into this!
One question…how the heck did you keep your dress so pristine? I know you changed into a short dress later in the evening, but at every wedding I’ve been to the bottom of the bride’s gown is noticeably dirty by the time the reception rolls around. Did you treat the fabric beforehand? Or just luck/Photoshop?
Good question–I actually just updated the post above with details on this! My dress did stay quite clean; I didn’t have to photoshop any dirt off the bottom or stains anywhere primarily because my ceremony and reception were both indoors, so I didn’t have to worry much about the bottom of my dress getting super dirty. We did take some photos outdoors on our wedding day, so the underside of the skirt got a tad dirty there, but not bad enough to be noticeable on the exterior as you can see in these photos. If your wedding is outside, you may have to look into fabric treatment or just have your photographers photoshop any stains. The only other thing, as you noted, was that I didn’t do a ton of dancing in this dress because I changed into my dancing dress after we’d been dancing for only about an hour. : )
I love the idea of a day-after shoot! You both look so relaxed and like you’re enjoying the moment in these photos. And what a great note to finish off a beautiful wedding with!
I’d love to read about the makeup you wore on your wedding day!
Can I ask what color is your nail polish? It’s such a nice neutral cream color and I love its subtlety. I find those details can really make or break a bride’s look and you’ve nailed it here.
I had the hardest time finding the nail color I wanted, and the color I’m wearing is OPI’s ‘Don’t Burst My Bubble.’ The bad news is that OPI has apparently discontinued this color, so the salon had to search high and low to find it. I’m sure you can find it on ebay if you keep an eye out! : )
What an awesome idea! I’ve never heard of a day-after shoot, so thank you for enlightening me. With “first looks” becoming more and more popular, I’ve been worried that I’d almost be forced to do one. I’m like you. I very much want to wait until the aisle to see each other for the first time. I mean, I’m very strongly against first looks, and I completely disagree with them. So this day-after idea sounds like it could be a great alternative to squeezing in every picture during cocktail hour. I won’t be getting married for a while, but when I do I’ll probably have a similar timeline as you if not even shorter between ceremony and reception. Thanks so much for sharing!
Whew! I almost thought you’d decided not to continue with the other facets of your wedding. So glad you posted another Wedding Wednesday. Lovely pictures. I’m excited to see the registry selection process. And it would be such fun to see you and your bridesmaids all getting hair and makeup done for the ceremony. .
Beautiful photos, Mary!
What a beautiful couple!
Thanks for sharing your wedding pictures! I love the back of your dress so much!! 🙂
We did both a first look and day after pictures (although we did them 2 months later). I love both sets of pictures so much!
We got married almost 8 years ago and people referred to this as “Trash the Dress” shoots, even when there was no trashing of the dress involved!
These photos are gorgeous!!

I love your blog! I always look forward to reading your style posts, and now that I am newly engaged I have really enjoyed the wedding posts. I was curious about your ideas, suggestions, and experience with engagement photos if y’all did those. We are getting ready to have ours taken, and I am looking for inspiration!
Thank you! Yes, we did engagement photos, which you can check out here: http://www.stylemepretty.com/2015/06/22/meet-smp-blogger-bride-mary-of-memorandum/ : )

awesome pics, I love it!
I love this! I am the least photogenic person ever and refused to hire a wedding photographer, which I seriously regret. Thinking we should dust off our outfits and do an anniversary shoot now!
Congrats on your beautiful wedding! and I’ll be sure to keep the day-after wedding shoot in mind as it sounds like a time and life saver. Is it possible to show more of your half-up hair from the back in your future wedding posts? Thank you!
