SKIRT: TY-LR (also HERE, and obsessed with the coral version HERE! Update: Whew! Just found it on sale HERE in red and HERE in olive too! So many optionsss.) | SHIRT: Brooks Brothers | COAT: Andrew Marc | SHOES: Jimmy Choo (similar HERE) | BAG: Dolce&Gabbana (similar HERE) | EARRINGS: Kate Spade New York | LIP: Buxom (Brooklyn)

Happy Presidents Day! Today I’m sharing another pre-flu look from early last week when I was still good at things like standing upright and moving my limbs and stuff. It was an exciting time in my life.
As a dyed-in-the-wool midi skirt lover, I find the fit and flare silhouette of this trumpet skirt a refreshing switch-up from the typical a-line silhouette of most skirts this length. And, although the graphic navy and white grid print works well in a professional setting as styled today, I think the skirt would be dynamite paired with a tank or crop top (obsessed with this one, this one and this one—all at super good price points) for a more festive occasion. I should also note that as far as knit skirts go, this one has a thickness and structure that make it both incredibly flattering and amazingly comfortable. All around, I’d say this skirt is another huge win for TY-LR which might officially be my new favorite brand (remember the blouse in this post?! SO good).
My hopes for a quick recovery so that I could fly out for at least the second half of fashion week are pretty much gone since the flu still has me in its clutches. But, the good news is that I can still stalk all of my favorite shows on Vogue from the comfort of my ritz cracker crumb-laden bed. The collections this season look incredible, so if you’ve got a case of the why-the-hell-do-I-not-have-president’s-day-off blues, I encourage you to check ’em out for a little sartorial boost.
Oh, and one last thing! Presidents Day SALES y’all. I’m scouring this one, this one and this one. Happy shopping and Happy Monday everyone!

So sorry you are feeling poorly. My 6 year old grandson was sick with the flu on Friday and it was brutal.
The most important thing is that you take good care of yourself! Blessings!
I like the solid color skirts better than the plaid simply because I’m not very flamboyant in my dressing. I like the coat a lot.
Sorry you are still sick and know how you must have hated missing NYFW, but look at it this way….you got two valentine’s days with your hubby. 😉
I just discovered you today and you are my new favourite blogger because of all your classic styles. I want to get my wardrobe to the point where I can dress less casually. I love all the outfits I’ve seen from you. Sophisticated, feminine, classic, and chic – my type of thing.
In this outfit, I love the skirt.

Lovely outfit, Mary. But not looking your usual happy self. Easy to see why now. Hope you’re feeling better.
By the way – awesome blogging in a World of so many bloggers. My absolute favourite one to follow for style. As they say, fashion changes, but style is eternal, and you have it in spades.
Kind regards
so if I’m not your height and don’t have your great ass and thighs…. what can I wear? Love the blog but seriously cannot wear half of it b/c it would only look good on tall and slender. Where is your hourglass petite alter-ego blogger?!
