Eyelet is normally too casual for a professional setting, especially since it generally comes in the form of some saucy little summertime sundress which is obviously a big fat NO in the workplace. However, I came across several eyelet pencil skirts this spring, including this red one from from J. Crew, and realized that an exception would have to be made. Despite my love for the natural beauties discussed yesterday, I have been waging war on any and all floral-printed fashion items basically since I was first allowed to dress myself. For some reason, I’ve always steered clear of flowery garments because I felt like anything floral was in stark opposition to my generally classic, unfussy fashion sense. Oh how very, very wrong I was. This spring, the ubiquitous, striking floral prints are making a convert of even me. It’s Friday, everybody, and you know what that means. Yup, just one more day of dressing like a normal person. In addition to a good-old-fashioned colorblock dress (that slims the bajeezus out of you), we’re obsessed with metallic accents this season, and especially excited to incorporate the trend into our work wardrobes via this gold-toe heel. Ted Baker also makes a beautiful version of the shoe, but his may be a bit high for the office. So, a little looking around produced several more comfortable and office-appropriate versions including these by Chinese Laundry. Keep it classy, people.
