At long last, I’m thrilled to announce the new and improved name of the blog: Memorandum! The name change has been a long time coming, as The Classy Cubicle no longer seemed to properly reflect me or my vision for the blog. When I started this site in 2013, The Classy Cubicle was the tongue-in-cheek title born out of working in finance in New York City. A year and a half later, my professional life has moved beyond that of the Wall Street cubicle, and so, I believe, has this blog. To be clear, I have every intention of continuing the blog’s focus on women’s work wear. However, from college to today, my workplaces have ranged from Capitol Hill to Wall Street to Silicon Valley. And as a reflection of these varied professional experiences, I hope to continue speaking to working women in all types of professional environments―not just those who inhabit a corporate cubicle. Thus, I feel that Memorandum, though definitionally rooted in the corporate world, does not have the industry-specific connotation that “cubicle” does. I want teachers, lawyers, journalists, photographers, merchandisers and professional jugglers to feel that there’s something here for them, and not to be deterred by a specific name. There is much more in the works for expanding and enhancing the blog later in 2015, but for now, I wanted to unveil the new appellation. Welcome to Memorandum! COAT: Marc by Marc Jacobs (also available here and here; similar versions here, here, here, here and here, whew!) | SHIRT: Cameo (love the t-shirt version too!) | SKIRT: Cameo (also here and LOVE the coordinating pants and trench too!) | SHOES: Asos (similar here) | SUNGLASSES: Nina Ricci (similar here) [thefeedproducts style=’four’] To celebrate the site’s new name and to thank the great number of you who have so loyally followed this blog over the past year and a half, I’m excited to host a new giveaway today! Since readers often ask me what work bags I recommend, I thought I’d give away two of my very favorite tote bags as a little something to help house the memorandums (or memoranda) in your own life as you shuttle between work and play. Regardless of whether you work in a conservative cubicle or a creative artist’s studio, the Tory Burch York Buckle Tote is, in my humble opinion, the ideal and truly “quintessential” work tote. With classic clean lines, gold hardware and gorgeous scratch-resistant leather that comes in (literally) every color of the rainbow, the lightweight tote even includes a padded compartment for your laptop or tablet. Need I say more? Enter below! Giveaway Rules of the Road: The giveaway closes at 11:59PM PST on Friday, February 6, 2015. Absolutely love the new name of the blog and also understand your need to change it!
You look gorgeous in this outfit, it’s very classy and interesting one.
I love the new blog name, and think that is goes well with your purpose and aspirations for the blog. I too have worked in many different corporate environments. But, the face of corporate America is changing slowly with the onset of tech companies (I worked for one), and the varied roles of women in the workforce. So, I appreciate this change and gesture more than you know. And, thank you for the giveaway! I’ll keep my fingers crossed. 😉 Have a lovely day! xo, Maria
I’ve been a loyal Classy Cubicler since the almost beginning! I remember reading through all your posts one night and envying how effortless you put all your outfits together. I think the rebrand was a smart move on your end if you don’t want to be classified as only cubicle related wardrobe!
Can’t wait to follow along with Memorandum. All the success to you!
Congrats Mary! I take it you’ve moved to San Francisco? Exciting! I’ve followed your blog and Instagram for quite some time now, best of luck in your new venture!
Wow, didn’t see that coming, but I’m thinking this might be even more beneficial to me than before, and I understand why you are changing it just a little. I’m retired, and had no need to incorporate workplace wardrobe into my closet, but I still was able to use your ideas in my everyday life which has definitely been a step up from the jeans and t-shirts that were staples in my life Before Classy Cubicle (BCC). I already liked you on FB and follow in Pinterest. Trying to follow on Instagram but it doesn’t seem to want to register me 🙁
Best wishes on the new endeavor and I’ll keep checking in. BTW, love it when you have narrative with your post. I like knowing your thoughts behind the choice you made for the day.
Congrats on the new name!! I absolutely love following you and appreciate all of your work wear inspiration!! For someone who works in DC, it’s great seeing how I can incorporate new prints and colors into my everyday wardrobe!!
I second Kathy above…love it when there’s a narrative with the post. I enjoy reading your blog and wish you much success as you move on to new and better things. Fingers crossed for the tote 🙂
Absolutely in love with this outfit, matching separates are a favorite of mine and the red coat is the perfect accessory!
Congrats on the new name!!

Congrats! I think these days there are a lot of work place styles that are much more of a blend, and not the traditional corporate. I appreciate your style because it’s classy, but still fashionable, and definitely doesn’t need to stay at the work place! (Perfect for those of us who are always working in some form or another!)
I’ve always love your posts on Facebook, Instagram and Blog. Your styles aren’t just relevant to the women in various professions in the west but for the hot and humid Asia too (minus the trench coat). You’ve inspired me into venturing bold colors, prints and stripes. For many years, I tried to steer away from stripes as I thought they were boring, especially the less formal horizontal stripes. Now I know how I should do it to fit into my workplace. Mary, thank you for investing your time and effort into this blog, it’s been enormous help and great pleasures.
Entered! Love the new name! I love all the fun colors! Living in Naples, Fl, there is never winter, so I’m soaking up all the colors! 🙂 I love those bags!
Thanks Mary!
Karli
Your videos about the new name is delightfully funny.
You look absolutely fabulous in dress and separates but you seem to style the latter more often. Would you be styling dresses again? I hope the answer is yes!
So classy! You look like a million $ in that red MJ coat with the Cameo blouse and skirt with the black heels too. I love the look. They don’t have my size in the Cameo blouse but I think I’m too short for that skirt style anyway. I love the splashy red w/ that look but would want it to continue after I got inside. The street style of it works or if you are Princess Kate and are photographed outside. But the average person takes off her coat when inside and then the color pop is gone. Would you put a red blazer or red cardigan like a JCrew Jackie with it or would that be an outfit killer in this instance?
