    Airpod Alternatives

I’m entirely convinced that I will lose any Airpods I own within 30 seconds of purchasing them and have therefore resisted the ubiquitous ear accessory, despite being shamed online and IRL for my continued use of earphones (brace yourself) with actual CORDS (the horror!). However, my desire to live a cordless life (especially when working out) has been ever-increasing, so as an intermediate precautionary step to see if (a) I like the Airpod lifestyle and (b) I can actually keep track of these tiny buggers, I purchased these bluetooth wireless earbuds on Amazon for less than a third of the…

    Welcome App

If you’re the type that loves to travel but hates actually planning travel, the Welcome App is going to alleviate so much stress for you. Welcome is an innovative new travel app that allows you to add your preferences, and the app suggests itineraries for you that adjust in real time—no advanced planning required. For example, if it starts to rain and that park suggestion is no longer a good call, a museum might take its place. It offers suggestions for everything from excursions to meals and also lets you know which method of travel you should take from A…

    Belly Buds

Yep, these are baby bump headphones. I recently received these as a gift, and they might sound a little (a lot?) weird, but I’m super into them after reading lots of research (of the legitimate, scientific variety) on the effects of prenatal music exposure on cognitive development. It is nutty that babies can start hearing at 20 weeks and start developing memories at 30 weeks. So the real question now is which Celine Dion album is best for brain function? Thoughts?

    Bluetooth Transmitter

If you’re an AirPods or bluetooth headphones person, you may have experienced some difficulty around things that still require headphone jacks—i.e. gym TVs, airplane in-flight entertainment, etc. This transmitter works actual magic and lets you connect your wireless headphones to anything with a headphone jack! You just plug the device into the headphone jack, connect your earbuds and you’re good to go. I want this in my travel bag literally at all times.

    Wifi Hotspot For Traveling

Never a fan of relying on WIFI I haven’t met before, I’m a big believer in traveling with one’s own solution to sketchy on-the-road internet. We traveled with this one while we were in Europe, and it’s a winner. It’s a rental product, so you tell Hippocket your travel dates, and they send you the device before you go, or send it to your hotel for when you arrive. Then, you just return it in the prepaid envelope at the end of your trip. There’s no device rental fee, and shipping is free both ways. If you’re traveling for seven…

    Lipstick-sized Portable Charger

Don’t fancy carrying an actual brick with you on a night out? Same. This smaller portable charger is great for the events where you’re just bringing a clutch or small cross-body. Packs plenty of power to get you there and back again without asking a bartender to plug in your phone next to the Mezcal.

    iPhone Sleep Timer

I often turn on a show or podcast while I’m falling asleep, but not every app (especially video streaming apps) have a sleep timer. Maybe this is something the rest of the world already knows, but I just realized the amazing sleep timer functionality that’s already built into the Clock app on your iPad or iPhone.  All you have to do is open the Clock app >> tap on Timer >> select how much time you want before your show/podcast/audiobook stops playing >> and select “Stop Playing” on the “When Timer Ends” line. Did anyone else’s life just change?

    Sonos Speakers

Remember when home stereo systems used to look like they could command a NASA shuttle? So glad that’s over. Grey winter days at home are made so much more bearable with some good tunes, especially when they’re coming out of a Sonos speaker, which takes up minimal room and offers maximum interior design chic.  We got these speakers for Christmas and they are AMAZING.  Super easy to use, you can buy as many as you want and they easily sync with each other (plus the sound quality is fantastic).

    Simple Human Sensor Mirrors

Are you familiar with Simple Human Mirrors? Okay, well then let’s talk magic for a moment shall we? These mirrors have sensors that know what the lighting situation is around you, and light themselves to best mimic sunlight in that space. If your head just exploded, take a moment to put it back together, I’ll wait. This one is especially good for travel, and they’re all outstanding in wintertime, when natural light is hard to come by.
