    Summer Entertaining Season

Outdoor entertaining season is in full swing, so if you need to brush up (and brush off those patio seating cushions), last year’s outdoor soiree entertaining guide is one of my favorites, and now is a perfect time for a re-read.  I cover all of the serving pieces you need, fuss-free decor, some fun menu ideas and tips for anticipating the elements.

    Shakespeare in the Park

People, it’s Shakespeare in the Park season! If you’ve never attended this classic New York institution I really encourage you to make it a priority this summer. The experience is nothing short of magical, the kind of thing that becomes a family or friend group tradition forever. Coriolanus begins July 16th, and a variety of ticket acquisition methods can be found on their website here!

If (when) you need advice on what to read and why, please go directly to my favorite source, Grace Atwood. Grace recently also shared where she gets advice on what to read next, so essentially she’s let us in on the literary goods in a BIG way. If your summer reading list is feeling lackluster, it won’t for long. Check out her post on the best bookstagram accounts to follow now.

    Dead To Me on Netflix

Dead To Me is next in my Netflix queue because it seems like you can’t hop on Instagram or go to happy hour without somebody mentioning the new series. Though honestly, they had me at Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini. Dream team!

Dressed To Kill Tour at The Met

I am dying to go to this tour at The Met, run by Shady Ladies tours (love it) and showcasing infamous style and beauty trends throughout history. The walking tour promises some of the most fascinating, bizarre and painful things people have done throughout history to look good—think 300 hundred years of torturous corsets or the grand hairdos of Imperial Rome. In addition to being visually breathtaking, this exhibit promises to be quite the education, too. Sign me up.

Frida Kahlo Exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum

We’re getting dangerously close to the end of the Frida Kahlo exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum! This incredible collection of the brilliant Mexican artist’s work and possessions is must-see, and while advance tickets are sold out through the rest of the exhibition, same-day tickets are still available—but sell out quickly!  This exhibit is not to be missed and ends May 12.

    Big Little Lies Season 2

Anyone else living for the trailer for Big Little Lies Season 2? Current hype is all about Game of Thrones, but some of us crave our drama without a side of dragons. Things are looking interesting for this all-star cast (who are casually joined by Meryl Streep this time!). Cannot wait for June 9th.

    Broadchurch On Netflix

Also in the realm of drama + thriller + not based in the US television, Broadchurch is another highly binge-able series, and this one is on Netflix for anyone who doesn’t have access to Killing Eve. Olivia Coleman (who just won a Best Actress Oscar for The Favourite) is simply brilliant. This series had me ADDICTED.

    Killing Eve Season 2

We’re all obsessed with Sandra Oh at this point, yes? Also I still miss Christina Yang but that’s for another time. Killing Eve Season 2 has recently begun, and if you even remotely enjoy drama, thrillers, and spy stuff, get it together, and get to your couch, STAT.

    Come From Away Musical

Spoiler alert: This show is a MUST-SEE.  The New York Times Critics’ Pick Come From Away Musical is about the remarkable true story of 7,000 stranded passengers and the small town in Newfoundland that welcomed them—unveiling a side of the September 11th tragedy that few know about. Cultures clashed and nerves ran high, but uneasiness turned into trust, music soared into the night, and gratitude grew into enduring friendships.  The music, cast, staging—everything—is spectacular.  Can’t recommend highly enough!
