In high summer, it was easy to get away with nothing more than a little dry shampoo and a highlighter refresh before leaving work and heading to a rooftop.  In fall and winter, your clothing and makeup need to be a bit more versatile.  Of course, you still want your style to feel chic and effortless, because if we’re not trying to dress like the French, what are we even doing?  With that in mind, I thought I’d show you a French girl-approved magic trick.  (It’s October, hence the magic. Just go with it.)  Spoiler alert: It involves every French girl’s favorite hometown team—Lancôme.

If your workdays are anything like mine, you’re likely not going home to change before happy hour, so your fall style needs to include a few quick-change tricks to accommodate calendars with multiple personalities.  Here, my Roksanda dress is work-perfect when layered with an oversized Tibi blazer. The long silhouette of this look begs for a boot, and Marc Fisher’s comin’ in hot with a striking knee-high that can be scrunched down for that slouchy look when the outfit demands it.  Finishing the look  is Lancôme’s L’Absolu Gloss in 272 Escapade.  The perfect hint of gloss and color for the workday that keeps your lips moisturized and shiny (never sticky).

When work ends (thank heavens), this look is just as ready for a drink as I am. By removing the blazer (hello shoulders, I missed you!) and changing my lip color to a martini-ready red (Lancôme’s L’Absolu Rouge X Camila Coelho in 158 Copacabana), I’ll have managed to make myself revelry-ready in mere moments.  I’d show you my magic wand, but it doesn’t fit in this bag.  What does fit in my bag, however, is a compact mirror and this ultra luxe, creamy lipstick that has a super high color payoff while Vitamin E and other moisture-boosting ingredients nourish my pout.
