What To Wear To Your Rehearsal Dinner:

Styling yourself for your rehearsal dinner is in (some) ways even more exciting than selecting your dress for the wedding itself.  It’s your chance to be a little more bold, have a little more fun, and (gasp!) maybe even not wear white?  Photos from this event will not necessarily be framed all over your house forever like photos from the big day, so the pressure is off.  The main focus is to find a celebratory dress you feel amazing in. This Marchesa Notte’s one-shoulder draped lamé gown fit the bill for me.  It’s the right move when you want to make a statement and maybe also live your dream of dressing like an Oscar statue.

When selecting your rehearsal dinner dress, don’t go with something that’s too similar in style and silhouette to your actual wedding dress.  Also, you’ll want to tailor (no pun intended) your dress to your venue, so obviously this look may not be quite the right move for an outdoorsy farmhouse dinner—unless of course the farmhouses you frequent are fancier than the farmhouses I frequent.  In general, you want to go for a dress that is comfortable (remember, there will be lots of standing and hugging) and makes you feel amazing in the moment—your moment.

Rehearsal dinner dresses get less of our headspace than the dress worn the next day, for obvious reasons.  But finding a dress for this special night that you’ll look back on and love forever is nothing short of a golden opportunity.
