Styling tips for Thanksgiving are simple. You either go shift dress so that it’s a straight line down from the shoulder (i.e. there’s no form-fitting silhouette that can give rise to suspicion about who ate the last of the stuffing). Alternatively, I’m a big fan of the a-line dress trick (that old chestnut) which cuts a flattering figure to the waist line and then flares out into a oblivion, green bean casserole and all.

I love this take on plaid (think Dead Poets Society, but make it fashion) which incorporates another critical element of a game-winning Thanksgiving dress: PRINT. We discussed this when chatting about what to wear to Friendsgiving, but it’s worth repeating: When planning on overeating, busy prints are your BFF. They disguise the fact that when compared to how you looked when you sat down at the table, you now look like you’re seven months pregnant with triplets standing up from the table. Another favorite element of the dress I’m wearing today is the sweetheart neckline which draws the eye upward and away from the pecan pie slice I’ll have tucked into my purse.

A-line, clever print, distracting front zipper and sweetheart neckline. Yes, I will have seconds, thank you very much. What you’re trying to achieve is a comfortable look that’s also going to put your best holiday style foot forward. This dress, plus a delicate accessory or two (and a purse with room for pie), are plenty to be thankful for.
