For Day 1: we’re talking SWEATER WEATHER! (Or sweata weatha, for SNL fans.) If you want to be cozy, but are also faced with the predicament that you need to leave your house and be presentable, allow me to introduce you to sweater dresses, the hero of cold weather style. Last year’s Sweater Weather moment was, quite honestly, one of my favorite dresses I’ve ever donned, and it is in her spirit that I now draw your attention to one just as chic, just as feminine, and just as spectacular in the sleeve department.

This dress, the Joni Zebra Jacquard Knit Dress by Ulla Johnson (love Ulla), is made of a zebra jacquard merino wool and finished with a cozy turtleneck. My two favorite features of this dress are as follows: Hello, flounce ruffle hem, nice to meet you! It’s really hard to be in a bad mood in a ruffle, don’t you think? Add to that a subtle sleeve poofiness (poofiness is a word, I’ve consulted the authorities), and this sweater dress is packed with enough shape and style to lay any fears of boxiness or boredom to rest. I also love that the color palette here really allows the zebra print to be a neutral, which is no easy task.
Look to wear this beauty (and many more like it) on cool days that are also packed to the brim with meetings, appointments, and the like. The busier you are, the more comfortable you want to be, but at the same time, the busier you are, the more polished you need to be. Sweater dresses with strong structure like this one are the answer to such a dilemma. They’ll keep you chic, comfortable, and most importantly—warm.

I love to style a sweater dress with a tall boot, it’s such a natural pairing. All those gorgeous tall boots that have been beckoning to you from shop windows and marketing emails? This is what you wear them with. This dress also supports your favorite mini bag (preferably croc-embossed) rather effortlessly. Regarding jewelry, look to your favorite delicate rings and/or earrings, with an emphasis on the delicate part. Anything too heavy here will feel like you’ve got too much going on. After that you’re just an Uber ride away from wherever the day (and your calendar reminders) take you. For more sweater dresses I’ll be clearing closet space for this year, shop below.

I know it’s not “30 boots in 30 days” but since you mentioned tall boots, do you have any recommendations on tall boots that are not too tall? My office just imposed a new (boring) rule that boots must be an inch below the knee. This is not easy for someone who’s 5’3”. ????????????♀️
The clothes you wear are very beautiful. I really like this dress.
