If there’s one reason to take sartorial inspiration from a disco ball, it’s this one. I have chosen to bring my sequined dreams to life in the Emmy striped sequined chiffon midi dress by RIXO. I saw it, I fell in love with it, I resisted the temptation to wear it around the house like a uniform. But let me tell you, I thought about it.

The dress itself is made from black chiffon that’s been absolutely coated in silver, gold, and copper sequins in a stripe pattern with an almost cumberbundt-like contrast stripe at the bodice. It’s shockingly slimming and it’s giving me gentle 80s vibes which I appreciate. There’s an elegant deep-V happening here, allowing your decolletage to see the light of day (a swipe of highlighter here wouldn’t go amiss), and there’s a slit in the front so that you can… you know, move in this thing. It feels like it should come with its own bottle of champagne, truly. (It doesn’t though, so be sure to source your own.)

In one magical dress, all three metallic shades have come out to play. This bodes well for those of you who aren’t loyal to any one metal when it comes to jewelry. You really have so many options here. That being said, you can get away with a good earring and not much else, there is such a thing as “too much,” even on New Year’s. A festive heel and a cocktail clutch or simple crossbody are all that’s required to complete the look and get you resolution-ready in an instant.
