Double-Breasted Coatdress

There’s nothing better than a classic, truly four-season dress…

We’re still enjoying lots of mild weather days in San Francisco, so I was able to go bare-legged when wearing this dress last week.  However, a lot of you often ask me about wearing black tights with dresses or skirts that aren’t black, and I think this is a perfect dress for it.  When living in NYC, black tights were my jam, so I know the struggle of feeling like you always have to wear black dresses or black skirts in the winter time to make them work.  However, the sharp black buttons down the front of this double-breasted coatdress help ground the heavier pairing of black tights—a look that’s ripe for a little holiday action.

Speaking of holiday action, I’ll be publishing my 2015 Holiday Memo right here tomorrow!  My email subscribers have already gotten a sneak peek, but I can’t wait to share it with the rest of you.  Grab some early coffee and get ready to snuggle up.  See you tomorrow… : )

A rare Sunday post. Happy surprise. Love this coatdress. It looks back to your conservative and classic style of dressing.

Lovely dress! I haven’t purchase a coat dress before – is this something you would wear all day in the office, or more targeted to days when you are out and about or have an outdoor event?

Yes, it’s definitely just a regular dress that you would wear all day in the office. The name “coatdress” is misleading in that way, but it’s simply called that because the style mirrors that of a double-breasted coat. Hope this helps!

This dress is well cut but not too adjusted (I mean you seem comfy in it) ? Am I right ?
You look awesome in it, I must say …

My favorite style dress. Wish I could find a navy and a camel double-breasted dress without the flare, more military looking. Haven’t been able to find for years.
