A new dress, every day, all month long. Get AMPED.
Happy March! With the official welcome of Spring this month, I’m super pumped to kick off my 30 Dresses in 30 Days series where every day for the month of March, I’ll be posting a favorite Spring or Summer dress exclusively on instagram. Each post will have a specific theme in mind—the perfect dress for St. Patrick’s Day, my favorite Easter dress, the best dress for a Summer client meeting, the perfect warm weather Sunday brunch dress, and so on!
As you may recall, I asked you to fill out a survey a couple months ago which included questions about what content you’d like to see more of on Memorandum. One question in particular asked which clothing items you care about the most, and by far your top answer was dresses! With warmer temps around the corner and a bevy of Spring and Summer festivities in tow, I thought March would be the perfect time to amp up the dress content and share dresses that correspond to every occasion we all face during these warmer months.
More than just sharing my favorite dresses for Spring and Summer, I’m hoping this series can serve as a resource to help navigate all of the warm weather occasions that often sneak up on us. If you’re anything like me (queen of procrastination) work and life often get in the way of planning ahead for all of the holidays, weddings, barbecues, and other events that occur during the sunny months. Before you know it, you’ve got a company picnic or a black-tie wedding in two days, and you’re lying on your bedroom floor contemplating the strain of bubonic plague you should tell your friends/family/coworkers you’ve contracted to avoid attending because you “have nothing to wear.”
But even worse than feeling like you don’t have the right dress to wear, is feeling like you actually don’t even know what the appropriate dress is for the occasion. Holy panic button. This terror is no joke. Exhibit A: What the heck do you wear to a baby shower?!
I’m starting the series off today with the perfect baby shower dress, because Rich’s sister is having a baby boy this Spring, which will be the first baby on either side of our families. In addition to not having welcomed any nieces or nephews before (or at least none that I know of… KIDDING, MOM), none of my best friends have had babies yet either. So, until now, proper baby shower attire was totally foreign to me.
Whether you’re attending your first baby shower, your first black-tie wedding, or your first dressy garden party, I got you, boo. With this series, my hope is that “how to fake your own kidnapping” will no longer be your google search term of choice when faced with the question of what to wear to an impending barbecue at your boss’s house.
To begin this series and give you all of the juicy deets, I’m sharing day one’s baby shower dress here on the blog today. From here on out, I’ll be sharing the dresses exclusively on instagram (@maryorton), with links to both the dress I’m wearing and additional dresses that I think are perfect for the occasion all linked via LikeToKnow.it. I’ll also be sharing additional exclusive content with my email subscribers, so if you haven’t signed up yet, definitely get in on it here!
I know what you’re thinking. Hey, Genius, there are 31 days in March. [insert embarrassed/eye-roll emoji here]
Roger that, compadres. On March 31st, I’ll be publishing a big, extra special finale to the series right here on Memorandum, so stay tuned! In the meantime, I have lots of other outfits and posts that I’ll be sharing here on the blog this month, and will be giving occasional updates on the #30DressesIn30Days series here as well. For now, get ready for dress número dos coming up first thing tomorrow morning on instagram. Can’t wait to share all of these beauties with you guys!
UPDATE: Well, I take it you guys liked this dress because it’s already sold out! Two pieces of good news: (1) it appears they’re getting more in stock so you can add your name to the waitlist here, and (2) they still have the skirt and top versions available! Otherwise, check out super similar style here, and all other outfit details below!
This series is going to be fun! This dress is so feminine and while you have it labeled casual, I think it would work at the office or in church as well. Very pretty. I’m excited to see the upcoming 29.
I had my eye on that dress on the Draper Jones site. What is sizing like? I love that line, but I’m wary of purchasing things online when I have no clue what their sizing is like.

I hate to be a killjoy here, but 30 dresses seems unrealistic and wasteful, especially give the social, environmental and ethical costs of fast fashion. I think its important to note that no one needs a new outfit or dress for every single occasion. Even Kate Middleton reuses her outfits!
I think it would be must more inspiring for you to present a capsule wardrobe, where you re-invent key looks, instead of promoting mindless consumption in an effort to what…? Impress people? Look better than your friends/coworkers/family members?
Its not a competition, ladies! More realism please. You’ve got a great look, a strong voice, and a ton of followers, Mary. Why not use it for good?
You’re insane! That’s a lot of effort and time. I’m so excited for this series of post. I’m equally happy seeing new or re-style existing pieces. I’ve Suits to blame for getting me on the never-tired-hunt for pencil dress. Well, a women can’t have too many dresses. Capsule wardrobe is practical but I can’t live with just that, dressing up does give extra motivation to kick ass.
What’s up everyone, it’s my first pay a quick
visit at this website, and piece of writing is truly fruitful
in favor of me, keep up posting these types of content.
