I can’t say no to a good poofy sleeve in winter, I really can’t. And why would I want to when Caroline Constas makes the coziest Cable Knit Wool-Blend Sweater Dress with a cute turtleneck in a creamy cognac shade that just makes you want to chug maple syrup? The sweater dress practically makes brunch reservations for you.
A lot of sweater dress mastery is in the styling. Without good pairings you’re dangerously close to wearing a very well-tailored grandma blanket. Which is why I like to belt mine at the waist and add a very high (and preferably croc-embossed) boot. This adds structure and shape, lengthening the whole look overall and avoiding any sack-like silhouettes.

Aside from the belt and boots, I’m bringing in accessories in contrasting black, to keep things from looking to matchy-matchy. A croc-effect handbag on the small size is ideal and I’ve also got my mainstay shades in tow because attending brunch without something to block out the early rays of the day is a dangerous game I’d rather not sign up for. Also, the whole world doesn’t necessarily need to see my dark circles on this merry morn, thank you very much.

Below, plenty of brunch-worthy dresses ready to make sure you actually leave home on the weekends. I’d order the pancakes, but do your own thing.

I’m probably old enough to be your mother, Mary, so my days of 24/7 baby wrangling are behind me, but I just wanted to tell you that I love how you incorporate your daughter into your posts. Your humor never fails to make me laugh, and I’m in awe of how you do so much while contending with both major sleep deprivation and the biological hazards of diapers. (As an aside, never raise a just-fed baby over your head — getting Baby Barf off your contacts is. . .an experience.)
I love that this sweater dress has a puffed sleeve but not over the top! Hopefully this means I can wear it underneath my coat! Haha! This is a cute brunch outfit!
