The Ultimate Guide to Work Bags + A Giveaway!
Back by popular demand, I’m kicking off this week with a reprise of my ultimate guide to work bags! Regardless of your budget level, below I’ve amassed all of the best totes out there for the working girl. Many of them come in several different colors, so click away on the styles you like to check out even more options. ALSO, if you enter via the rafflecopter widget at the bottom of this post, you just might win a Longchamp bag in the color of your choice. I’m giving away THREE! And, there are about 17,000 colors available (sliiiiight exaggeration), so get pumped. How’s that for a kick in the pants, Monday? I’ve had a ton of great work totes over the years, but the one bag that’s been on constant rotation from college to now is the ever-popular Longchamp Le Pliage tote. These bags look great and truly wear like iron, so I thought they were the perfect bag to give away today! Also, as an aside, I’ve gotten into the habit of folding up a Longchamp (because you can do that… they literally thought of everything) and throwing it into my suitcase whenever I’m going on a long trip. I love having an extra tote bag on the off chance (or very likely chance) that I leave the destination with more stuff than I had when I arrived. …becuase I like to shop. Not because I’m a robber or because I steal stuff out of hotel rooms. Let’s just be clear on that. I feel like I probably could have phrased that in a less sinister way… Check out the below quick rules and then head on down to the rafflecopter widget for all of the ways to enter! The giveaway is on for the next five days, ending this Friday, November (dun dun dunnn) 13th! As you will notice, you get entered twice for filling out the survey, following me on instagram, or signing up for Memorandum emails! I should mention that in one week from today (!!) I will be sending out my preeeetty epic (woa, easy, conceited) Holiday Gift Guide exclusively to my email subscribers. I’ve also recently overhauled my email content, so you guys are in for some good stuff! Longchamp Le Pliage Tote Giveaway Rules of the Road: -
Day to Night: Sweater Dress

SWEATER DRESS: French Connection (40% off!) | BOOTS: Stuart Weitzman (affordable options here, here & here) | JACKET: old similar here | NECKLACES: c/o Melinda Maria (here & here) | BAG: c/o Reiss | SUNGLASSES: Stella McCartney (similar here)You may recognize today’s sweater dress from this post a few weeks ago when I styled it for the office with a shirtdress layered underneath (because you’d probs get fired if you wore it like I did today). Earlier this week I re-styled it for some après-work activities and thought I’d share the look today for a little day to (finally) night remix. Whether it’s layered over workwear pieces, paired with over-the-knee boots, or worn over leggings and sneakers, this dress has all the chunky, loose-fitting relevance to be my go-to all season. Oh, and it’s now 40% off. Holy #saleMEMO, das good.
Happy Friday!
P.S. Speaking of sale memos, literally everything in Wednesday’s post featuring my new favorite black midi dress is on crazy sale at Nordstrom right now during their Fall Clearance Sale!
P.P.S. Whew you guys act fast! The black midi dress is sold out at Nordstrom now, but is still available in a bunch of sizes here (and is on major sale)!

Grey Fringe Coat

FRINGE COAT: Ralph Lauren | BOOTIES: Steve Madden | SWEATER: Trouve | JEANS: Paige | SUNGLASSES: Stella McCartney (similar here) | LIP: Nars (Bansar)
Nothing like a coat with a little extra “zip” (as my mother would say) to turn your basic black outfit into something not so basic. In this case, the elusive “zip” comes in the form of front-framing fringe and the flowy draping of what’s been the perfect blanket coat in which to wrap myself as days become increasingly chilly here in San Francisco.
I threw on some brown leather booties to mirror the brown leather tab closure in the front, thereby appeasing my chronic compulsion for some element of matchy-matchiness, and further breaking up the black monochrome. Two birds, one stone.
With the November chill finally here (and an impending trip home to Wisconsin for Thanksgiving… yesssss!!!), I’m in dire need of a winter coat refresh. Below are the ones I’m currently eyeballing. Any favorites?
Many of these coats come in multiple colors, so if you spot a style you like, clickety-click for more color options ; )

Black Midi Dress

DRESS: Michael Kors (sold out, more great options here) | SCARF: Marc Jacobs | BOOTS: Dune London (similar style here) | SUNGLASSES: Stella McCartney (similar here)I have no idea how this black midi dress is still available in every size, but it is, and I’m going to go ahead and call that an early Christmas miracle. I got a similar version of this dress two years ago and wore it until it quite literally started coming apart at the seams, so was thrilled to finally find this replacement. It comes with the belt that’s shown above, but you can wear the dress with or without it, or even switch up the look by replacing it with a belt from your own arsenal. The dress is so amazingly versatile, you can throw on a jean jacket and booties for Sunday brunch as easily as you can amp it up with a festive belt like this one (also love this one!) and some extra bling to make it holiday-ready.
Did someone just say HOLIDAY? Good lord.

Navy Culottes, Vintage Scarf

NAVY CULOTTES: Rebecca Taylor (65% off! also available here and similar style here) | SHIRT: Brooks Brothers | SHOES: Steve Madden (old, but very similar here, here & here) | VINTAGE SCARF: Versace (similar options here) | BAG: Phillip Lim | WATCH: Daniel Wellington | SUNGLASSES: Stella McCartney
Culottes, a button down, and neck scarf: basically, my go-to fall uniform in recent weeks (see evidence here of yesterday’s spin, sans scarf). I know culottes are polarizing, but they’ve remained my absolute favorite four-season staple in recent years. Pair with tanks in the summer, chunky knits and tights in the winter, dress them up, dress them down, wear them to work, wear them out… there’s no game they can’t play.

Grey Herringbone Coat, Camel Cableknit Turtleneck

COAT: Charles Gray c/o Nordstrom Rack | SWEATER: Lafayette 148 c/o Nordstrom Rack (more great options here) | SKIRT: Ann Taylor (old, but very similar here and here) | SHOES: Cole Haan (also here) | EARRINGS: Kenneth Jay Lane (similar style here)
A couple weeks ago I had the pleasure of helping to celebrate the opening of the San Francisco Bay area’s latest and greatest Nordstrom Rack store in Emeryville. I’ve been a Rack devotee since I was a little girl, so let’s just say they didn’t have to ask me twice. As you can see above, I scored this new favorite grey herringbone coat and the perfect camel cableknit turtleneck to pair with it (love the color combo)… not to mention these grey suede ankle strap heels which you can expect to see on constant rotation here.
I also made out like a BANDIT in their home department which I plan on visiting again soon as I prepare for the holidays and we continue to decorate our home. My favorite finds were these copper moscow mule mugs (also love these ones) which will be perfect for my favorite wintery cocktails.
Also, if you’re looking to up your boot game for winter, their boot selection right now is BONKERS. These are the best affordable alternative to the Stuart Weitzman over-the-knee boots that I’ve seen yet. Check out all of my Nordstrom Rack finds below!
