    Candy-Colored Car Coats

Look, I have no idea why these coats bear any reference whatsoever to the automotive industry, I just know I really love the shapes and colors they come in and I wanna wear ‘em all.  Note: Looks like they’re selling fast, I believe the pink is already almost gone!

    Proenza Schouler Puffer Coat

If you prefer your outerwear to mimic your bed linens, might I suggest this duvet-like coat by Proenza Schouler? Available in a gorgeous cider color (now I’m thirsty), this extremely floofy (let’s pretend that’s a word) coat is belted, to ensure that it still has shape despite being the coziest coat that ever attempted to coat.

    Denim Shacket

Yes, I said shacket, what of it? I recently wore this hybrid garment layered over a maxi dress, belted for some shape, and I think it worked out quite well if you don’t mind me saying so. It’s an excellent in-between weather piece that’s easy to throw on and layer with your favorite basics. Oh, and it’s casually under $30.

    Corduroy Maxi Vest

I’m a little embarrassed that I didn’t know I needed a corduroy maxi vest until I was today years old. I recently wore a somewhat similar long wool camel vest and had to disappoint approximately all of you via DM to let you know that it was an older style and sold out. This however is a wonderful and current substitute that extends the capabilities of your entire wardrobe by being super versatile, and when properly cared for will last you year after year.

You know what, I think I’ve got enough coats. LOLZ JUST KIDDING, THAT’S NOT A THING THAT HAPPENS. Especially not when I’m staring directly into the beautiful glen plaid eyes of this wrap coat with leather belt (!) by Mackage. It’s a perfect fall weight coat and a solid investment piece that will work with your wardrobe year after year.

    Dudley Stephens

Remember last winter when I wouldn’t shut up about how much I love Dudley Stephens? Yeah, well, you’re in for a repeat of that song and dance because the temperatures have officially dipped below 60 here and therefore I shall begin the process of swaddling myself in their delicious fleece until April. If you’re not familiar, Dudley Stephens is the gold standard in quality fleece-wear and this tunic-length turtleneck was probably my most-worn item of last winter. And, that was before Covid hit when I had a lot more reason to wear dresses and skirts and all that nonsense. Now that my…

    Checked Blazer

It’s been a while since we’ve talked about a good blazer. Here, this incredibly affordable blazer option has soared to the top of my shopping list. This double-breasted, midweight blazer in a beige check is instant professionalism to toss on before Zoom, over your athleisure for a neighborhood walk, or anything in between. It’s the instant outfit elevator.

    Coatigan

Last week I posted about a head-to-toe Ann Taylor look that I love, and the star of the whole ensemble is this coatigan. It’s such a smart piece for the changing seasons, in that it’s part cozy sweater, part beautifully shaped outerwear. It also holds that shape wonderfully as you wear it, meaning it’s a smart go-to for work, Zoom calls, grocery runs, and socially-distant walks around the block this fall.

    H&M Cable Knit Cardigan

H&M’s new fall arrivals are good, very good indeed, and I’m starting things off with this cable knit (can you believe I’m saying these words) cardigan that will be extremely useful for WFH days, as it’s easy to throw atop essentially anything and look cozy-polished which is very much a real thing. I also have eyes for this burgundy coat (another word I’m so excited to say out loud much less add to cart), it’s a wool blend with a slouchy, oversized shirt-like vibe, so I’ll keep things crisp underneath, but can we all just pause to appreciate shopping for…
