Many of you told me that you shared my love of the classic Daphne Du Maurier gothic novel when I mentioned re-reading it last year. Now, we all get to watch Netflix’s adaptation of the 1940 Hitchcock classic, Rebecca, with a stellar cast that includes so many of my British favorites (I’m mildly obsessed with Keeley Hawes). Now, if you are a devotee of either the book or the 1940 film with Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine, try to avoid the comparison game and approach it with an open mind. This version is a dramatic departure in many ways, particularly in style and character development (Maxim is basically a completely different character). Just enjoy it for what it is.
