A reader recently asked about the shampoo I use, and since I have medium-dark blonde hair, my favorite shampoos are those that counteract brassiness. There are a lot of great “purple” shampoos that allow you to maintain ashy blonde locks between colorings, and right now, my favorites are the Drybar Blonde Ale Brightening Shampoo and L’Oreal Paris EverPure Blonde Shampoo. Both shampoos are sulfate and paraben free, and I use them a little differently: The Drybar version is much stronger so you would only use it once or twice a week when you feel like your hair is really looking too brassy. The L’Oreal version offers a milder purple rinse that you can use everyday or every other day when your blonde hair just needs a little refresh.
