Have you ever had a million things to do, but also needed the comfort of a show or movie playing in the background? Do you want to fully ingest the unspoken, dramatic storytelling that is Bridgerton, without having to look up from the very important task that is in front of you? Great, we’re the same person. I posted about this on my Instagram stories recently, but I need to make sure everyone knows about AUDIO DESCRIPTION because it's amazing. I discovered it while watching Colin Firth’s new film Operation Mincemeat on Netflix. It varies from streaming service to streaming service (why are there so many WHY) but on Netflix, you can find it by hitting the Audio & Subtitles button at the bottom of the screen and then hitting English - Audio Description under the Audio section. Audio description was developed for the visually-impaired which its primary, most important purpose and it effectively turns the film or show into an audiobook. On top of hearing the film's full soundscape (including the dialogue), audio description has a narrator pop in to describe all of the unspoken onscreen action.
