As you may have noticed, I’ve been on a bit of a black and white binge lately.  The simplified color palette has been mostly inadvertent, but somehow really refreshing in the transition to fall.  If you’re a color fan (like I am, usually), don’t worry, I promise I haven’t made any kind of chromatic vow of silence.  Many more bright hues to come!

Today I’m featuring more of my favorite fall boot(ie)s from Nordstrom.  As you know from this post last week, I’m all about upping your boot game this fall, but for me, there are few specimen in the footwear category that can get away with all form and no function.  Luckily, I landed on another pair of boots from Nordstrom that don’t force the choice.  These suckers are as comfortable as they are cute and between today’s post and this post from London where I styled the same pair, you can see that the styling (and geographical) options are nearly endless.  From tube stop to farm field, I guess you could say that these boots can really… make hay… of any sartorial situation.  (I’m sorry, I had to.)

These shots were snapped while I was away from NYC visiting family in Wisconsin.  Since nothing makes me feel more like fall than the gorgeous autumnal landscapes of my home state, I thought it would be the perfect setting to harken in the new season and get increasingly excited that it’s time for summer to… hit the hay.  Fall, here we come.

Happy Monday!

(It took a LOT of self control to use only two hay puns in this entire post.)

Boot Up

Booties: Louise et Cie  |  Skirt: Michael Kors  |  Shirt: Halogen  |  Jacket: Laundry by Shelli Segal (looks like it just sold out… luckily there are great similar versions here, here and here!)  |  Earrings: c/o Baublebar  |  Polish: Essie (Vanity Fairest)

If you’re starting to think about fall shopping, boots are likely at the top of your list… or at least they should be.  I recently snagged these beauties (also seen in this post) at Nordstrom and have worn them a ton since opening the box two weeks ago.  They’re actually super comfortable, despite the fact that for some reason peep-toe booties often tend to be quite uncomfortable for me.  This has to do with (a) the fact that the actual word “bootie” (only when referencing the above-ankle footwear that is still too diminutive to achieve full-fledged “boot” status) makes me inexplicably uncomfortable; and (b) the sad reality that the act of walking in said near-boot footwear (particularly of the peep-toe variety) usually hurts like woah.  However, this pair is truly so comfortable that I recently wore them to a post-flight meeting in London―which is unprecedented since I generally refuse to wear anything remotely resembling heels in the immediate aftermath of deboarding aircraft (read: Swollen, Jet-Lagged and Angry Hangry).

If you’re in the market for a fresh pair of booties (agh just typing it hurts me) or even just good ol’ fashioned boots for fall, check out Nordstrom’s near-endless selection.  I’m currently having a very tough time resisting these ones, these ones, and these ones.  Nordstrom is basically boot shopping heaven, which I’m growing increasingly certain will be the cause of my demise.  Death by boot overdose.  That’s an embarrassing way to go.
